heres a truck I saw here on HAMB that has a sweet *** green suede. made me want to get a car to paint green.
I have a custom mountain bike (yeah I know) that's satin green. It's 79 toyota "olive" basecoat sprayed barely reduced, at way too high pressures, little further away than normal. Ended up a really interesting sheen and texture. Aimed for a cool twist on olive drab and hit the nail on the head. Not sure I'd do it on a car stored outside without the protection of clear, but has lasted fine for this application. Good luck
These greens are killer. I really them I an going to go crazy trying to figure out what shade of green to use
Check out the second car down on this post. This Buick has a perfect green: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=191426
My 32 using Spies-Hecker spectro surfacer primer. You can get it mixed up in any color you want. My s10 using the "CLARK METHOD"
Hey Clarke Maestro, Did you paint the flames UNDER the flat clear?? So you sanded down the hard taped-edges of the flames, then clear coated over the top of everything together, just as you would with a gloss flame job??? Were the flames pinstriped? If so, under or over the clearcoat??? A close up shot of the flame edge would be SUPER-EDUCATIONAL here Have you done any with flat body/gloss flames????? Im only asking soooo many questions coz your results look so frikkin awesome! those two flamed trucks are the perfect middle ground between TOO traditional and TOO goldchainer modern (and will let me use my cheap-*** swap meet 14 inch mags on my 52 FordPUand still look cool ).....they look really cool NOW, and they wont look like "remeber that fad in 07?" 5 or 10 years from now......or 20? As for your PPG rep....."Flex'n'Flat" is used for getting the correct texture on late 90's-model plastic bumpers and trim.
This is my ride. I used PPG DBU base coat without any clear. I garage it but i drive the hell out of it too. Had it based for over five year's without any problem's and just this year changed the color. There is alot of pearl in the color which give's it a real nice glow. Thank's to The Tokyo Kid for his help on the paint.
