i have been told by over a dozen people that went today that it was just a shame that someone would let that happen, nothing is worth crap, and thats from the poor to the rich reporting. So I will be staying at the shop and working... look forward to the fun reports.

  4. Phat Rat and I took the forest tour this afternoon. Conferred with Sanford & Son, Plowboy and a few others. Sad, sad, sad bunch of scrap. The aforementioned young guys will probably stick it out to buy the '32 Ford tin.

I'm so old I don't buy green bananas (LOL), and every '32 there is a serious lifetime commitment. We're gonna go back out for the first few hours of the auction though - just to see how the bidding goes. In spite of how badly rusted, burned and otherwise neglected these hulks were I have to say that it was worth it to come and look. Also, we won't have to listen to our pals tell us how great these cars were.

Some of the model A rodster pieces looked worth buying and so did one of the little bitty cars (Bantams?)

If you had a year to pick apart the big piles, there might be something else in there...........

Yep, I agree.....it sucks that he didn't start selling this stuff years ago. It looks like most of these cars are way far gone. It also looks some of these cars had a barn or shed fall on them, or a tornado came through.
I know of 2 old dudes that have dozens of old cars on their property that won't even let you look at the stuff, not to mention there is no way they would sell anything. It's a shame.....these guys are so selfish that nobody will ever get to make something of the cars they are hoarding. :(

Lot 174 looks like the Caddie-camper that a guy in my neighborhood had when I was kid.

The 32 Vicky was a 32 sedan with a Vicky rear end welded on, it was a PIECE of SH!T, the quarters were almost completely peeled off, EVERYTHING was ROUGH. The only model A sedan that was worth anything went for almost $5000. I climbed through all the barns and piles of crap, I found a few sets of Buick finned drums and some NOS parts but couldn't do shit because you had to buy 100ft lots of 'scrap'...

I saw one guy pick up a nice 32 grille shell and walk away with it before they got to auction off the piles. Another guy was trying to get one out of a school bus before the lot was sold.

    Well:

As Dad(Ol Blue) kinda/sorta stated, it became a 'free for all' while the auction was going on across the street. People walking out with '32 Ford grills, piling wire wheels together for the taking; pretty disturbing in my eyes.

I told Dad on the way home, either he raised me right, or way wrong, because I would be willing to bet at least 10K worth of misc parts walked out of that yard unpaid. Shoot, after we saw the individual walking out with the '32 Ford grill, I found no less than 6 sets of '32 Ford front and rear fenders under a collapsed building.. The people who made out today(given enough time to sift through it) are the ones who bought the 'lots' of junk.. Probably thousands worth of ebay stuff in each one.

Does anyone know what lot #97 went for. It was the bus half way up on the left with all the lights, grill shells and steering wheels in it?

    Lot #97 went for $800.

Why I wasted my time I will never know. I guess the same reason I lose when I start chasin' a straight on the Friday night game.

I agree with the guy who said the cars looked great in the pictures. I think the cars still would have been rough, but even if the old fart would have put them up on blocks or rims or any other of that stuff laying around it would have helped the decay. Oh well...the search goes.

Still no word on who got the bare 5 window body that was under the collapsing building frame? Thats what I went for, but was sure it would get up outta my price range. We left it for you all to fight over, I am curious what it brought $$

Oh,just wait.I spoke to those guys yesterday......sounds like they did very good............

  29. With all the theivery and grab ass going on there--I am really glad I didn't go, especially in that sea of poison ivy. Watch--that SOB who took the 32 grill will be at your next swap meet wanting 2 grand for it. Sometimes the greed in this hobby really pisses me off.
