Hello from Lexington, KY. I've been finding a lot of good info here by doing Google searches and thought I'd better join. Been into cars since high school with a '56 and then a '57 Chevy. The '57 was a great car, I dropped in a 327 and converted it to a 4 speed. Had a set of Zoom 456 gears in the trunk the night it got stolen. Had to take a break due to military, then marriage, and then kids but I got back in with a '67 Impala SS back around '94/95. Went to a lot of local shows and got the street rod bug so I sold the '67 and bought a '40 Chevy coupe back in early '96. The '40 has been a blast and while I finally got it to the point that it looks finished about 6 years ago, there's always another project. Hot Rodding has a rich heritage and I look forward to learning a lot more from this site, and maybe contribute an idea or two here and there.
From the eastern part of the state let me welcome to the HAMB. I get down that way some in the summer time. Worked in Lexington quite a bit a few years back. Ever get out to the Parkette?
Thanks for the welcome John! Yeah, the Parkette is landmark here in Lexington, not many places like that left. It broke my heart when it closed a few years back, but thankfully it reopened with new owners. I've got friends up in Columbus, OH who come down and we always have to hit the Parkette. I get your e-mails about some shows up in the Olive Hill area, but I always seem to have a conflict, one of these days I'll make it over. Do you know if KOA is gonna bring Doubledate back to Burlington? It always puzzled me about the low turn-out..... such a nice place for a show, we we always there with our Lone Wolf C.C. banner.
WOW, what a small world, I grew up in Grayson, now livin in Georgia, didn't know anyone was still in the Bluegrass state. Troy
Welcome from Georgetown, KY ! Parkette RULES!! Poor-Boy and fries Lots of good information on the board.
We all need to pick a night to meet up at the Parkette. I remember how it use to be on friday nights back in the 80s Grayson, the big city in our county. LOL Ever miss listening to WUGO radio? They got it streaming on the internet now. http://www.wgohwugo.com/home.html I'll say it again, I'm glad to see more and more Kentucky people showing up here.
I'm always up for a Poorboy or Chicken Box and a root beer float! Only problem is I won't know for sure if I can make it until later Friday afternoon. I've gotta work and I'm covering for a couple of guys who are off that week and I might be out of town Friday.
