rare car like 500 made in 57 and 58 have a buddy looking for 15 years for a good one bad ones get 20gs there was one in every town with industry in 57 58 usually driven by the richest guy in town or some one famous this one looks real cool
About 20 years ago there was a nightclub habitue here in town that had one. A little ratty but not bad. It never failed to drawn admirers when parked. A nice forthright styling job.
i'm wondering in some years how these broughams can be worth it...i seriuosly feel they are strong sleepers... factory was loosing 10 grand per car produced but was important WHO drove those classy boats...expensive advertisment indeed
Oh FU#K ME!!! Does everybody have cooler stuff than us in the rust belt!?!?! I knew I was only torturing myself by opening this post.
Posted for Sled. Damn cool delivery. fellas, found this one today,1 owner family owned..they're butchers by tradition and this 40 de luxe have been used since new carryng meat in town.... not in use anymore, stored and not for sale at any price.... equipped in the 60's with a 327 and check out the gas pedal .....they liked the racy look apparently...cool toy.now, this is patina at its best to me...
magB,thanx buddy...will send more pix later to be added here...and keep going on the useless junk... too bad this 40 delivery is not for sale...i bet it will be sittin like this for loooong time, family proud....argggghhhhh
just for the record, currently tryin hard to buy the 40 sedan delivery..my tactic is to buy lot of cases of local cerveza and get the owner drunk as hell...so,he might change his mind.it works most of the times here ....if cerveza does'nt work let's go for tequilaaaa keep ya all updated
Alcohol may not be enough in this case. You should consider proposing marriage to his daughter if necessary.
benzine440...YEP,not a bad idea at all, considerin the guy has a garage filled with chevy 57 convertibles,coupes...Mercury 55 cab,and at list 4 Fords retractables among more 57 fords... but he's really interested in my fully restored 58 ranchero...perhaps a "cambalache" = swap at same price
Some new pics from our friend Sled! He's having a good time fellas, been recently to see the Panamericana race,in Auguas Calientes stage.it was a great vibe there...the brotherhood between the various teams was awesome, and lots of crash stories too.. at this point from 92 teams participatin more than 20 were out of game, including the fully burnt Corvette seen elsewhere it's certainly a lifetime experience for these guys and there are some interesting human stories to hear too...good fun! some friends were involved in the race with the only 1 left in the world Fiat Savio (3 made).they did finish overall too... here some shots i did....
This is incredible, how can he find all this stuff back to basics,my last found 50 Merc...no matter what conds are,but i don't let em go,especially the 50 bought it from pix,it will be stripped off soon and already workin on gettin parts from my other mercs.this will a full kustom and can't wait to start... somebody had the unusual idea to put a big block 454 on it...but i'll go for a clev 351/auto on this one...more news soon about
well, not really hamb stuff but some good friends convertibles...we've been in a car show last week, and few shots of what we were driving ...good food, vibe and cerveza,as usual....
Thanks for the pics. I love Mexico and the people and culture. Can't wait to be able to go back and spend more time.(Mexico city and Veracruz) What is this? Any more pics of it? What were they running in it motor wise?
Stone, this was an LT (mecanica nacional) mexican built racing car,i don't remember correctly the name of the guy (mexican engineer) who run a small number handbuilt of those...interesting history anyway, but i need to ask a racin friend about it... you see is all taped on the sides,it was already heavily smashed but they kept going on... anyway, engines are limited to 350 c.i. (5 liters cc) on the race..this particular car was 1 of 3 of a swedish team based in Mexico, really cool guys...actually some of them are comin to Mexico just to be part of the team in the race...and 1 of em is building hot rods in CA,can't figger the name now... and the other 1 has a kustom/rod shop in sweden...all talented dudes! sorry,i don't have more pix on this one....
Some more. Sled says: recently found in town this Ranchero 58 ,fresh from CA and very solid conds..has 390/auto runs really fine and i took the fast decision to restore it properly...it's too good. currently under resto now...more updates later
Damn, Mexico must be very close to Paradise. At least when it comes to old cars. Message from Sled: ok,something for the purists, sorry is out of topic,i know...found recently also this 53 Caddy Eldorado,in kinda good conds...needs resto but all there ,and stored from many years...car was abandoned in a werehouse long ago in Mexico, and just sittin there since was rescued...sorry,not for sale that's why i like the everyday life here, you never know what comes up....
Stone, highly reccomended race...more,is a lifetime experience..a much better rewiew of what can be go to another thread called : "la carrera panamericana" from a guy from CA,can't get the name now and log in in his website, really worth it saw him racing and took pix of his white Mustang fastback but i had no clue he was a hamber, actually a newbie here... but you'll get at list a good idea from his website, lots of great human stories there...check it out who Jo Ramirez is... Magnus, thanx for the fast updating a usual...appreciate!i owe you your beloved coupe 1 day...
That's the infamous Coop ! His Hamb name is Coop666. I think you can find his blog at PositiveApeindex.com (?) or as mentioned do a search. It is an awesome read with a lot of photos. Coop is a good guy as well. BTW, those 53 Eldorados always remind me of Marylin Monroe. When cars were styled after the female form.
Just puttin' this up again, for no main reason other thanits' a great thread, what will sled find next?? ........Sled,d'ya come across any '45-55ish era harleys or the odd indian bike out there,n hows' the prices? Is it hard to export from mexico?
Loggy, there are always been a great number of harleys here,still.. cause the road patrol police use them since the 40's ,as far i know.. and every 6 years they change em with the newer model..still today is the same. the older ones are usually sold in big lots thru public auctions i know some Indians too,bu are in good hands already..occasionally some come up for sale prices are a bit high, but depends who sells and if needs fas cash...a deal can be cut easily..everybody (well, almost) know prices checkin in internet..easy! a famous mexican movie called A.T.M. (a toda maquina) with Pedro Infante shows lots of Hd's and old cars around...fun stuff! and Mexico has some exellent acrobatic patrol teams still trainin and performing all over..since the early 40's...maybe before! still there are Hydra glides around but most late Duo glides and early shovels, also electras... no big deal to be exported anywhere
Turbo442,nope...i was talkin about Gary Faules (Gfaules here on hamb)...shit ,i took pix of his car but did'nt had the pleasure to meet him in Aguas Calientes..too bad,i would have loved to meet him among others fellas, check out Gary's website from his "la carrera panamericana 2007" thread..super worth it!!it gives you some of the GREAT feeling about the experience.. Gary, congrats to you and team...i'm lookin forward to catch ya next year... Turbo, had no idea that Coop himself was at the panamericana last year...too cool!!i guess he'll love it ,so impacting culture from abroad...took my time to check out his blog, interesting and funny of course...really a surprise!!! well,to all guys intended to race here..DO IT!!no matter waht the effort and cost is,is a lifetime experience...
