  2. Great post with some great results. Again, Graeme McNeil at www.macsspeed.com manufactures a bellhousing adaptor for T5 to flathead.

    Best regards,

Makes perfect sense. The trans is locked up in Tardel's shop until he reopens next week, but I should be able to tell what I have. Thanks.

The first two numbers are pinion and ring tooth count. Don't need a chart, just divide the first number into the second. Typically rounded off to hundredths.

don't blow it on a T5. go with a tr3550 or tko500. uses the same toploader 4spd. bolt pattern from early 50's to mid sixties fords. use this link to gain more info on the subject. good luck.

Hmmmmm...............speaking of "blowing it", the cheapest tranny I saw on that site was $1895. [IMG]

All good info but I've since sold the 50 engine to av8 and used my S-10 tranny in my 33 pickup.
Now, I have a brand new problem with T-5s....got a 4 cylinder version [still a world class from a '93] but it has a really weird bolt pattern. I dunno if it'll fit anything other than a 4 banger S-10 truck. The pattern is very narrow but really tall, top to bottom. I put it up against a chevy bellhousing and it appears one bolt hole matches up but the two bottom bolts holes are about 2 inches below the iron chevy pickup bellhousing.....nothing but air to bolt to. I was thinking of fab'ing up some heavy "L" brackets that bolt to the bellhousing inspection cover bolt holes and.....well, cobbling sounds like a pretty accurate description of my idea. Maybe a thick adapter plate is a better idea.....

    Rocky,

You can find T5 cases pretty cheap on eBay - easy to swap guts from one to another...
