My A-V8 roadster has an 8BA flathead, '39 tranny and '46 rear axle....it is geared WAY too low for highway speeds.
What ratio should I use for decent take-off torque and decent top end.....Speedway sells them from like 1:1 to 6:1

My 34 coupe had 4:11's running 7:00/16 Firestones with a flathead. The best thing I did was to install 3:54 gears.

What ratio are you currently running?

    More than likely it's a 3.78.

What size tires are ya running?

You really only have two options, if you keep the same tranny and axle, either 3.54 or a 3.25.

I agree whole heartedly, I'm running 3:54's in my A coupe with mildly pump up 8ba, It launches respectfully and turns about 2500 at 62 mph with 31" Deluxe Champs. I think it's as good as it gets short of going with some sort of OD.

And you REALLY need to find out current gear, current RPM at a known speed, current tire diameter...seems like comparing apples to unicorns here without even any basic info on what is being discussed!
