My buddy Klaus's wife Cindy helping me out with my Lincoln. In return I showed her how to change valve stems on a SBC, she did fine.
Let's not forget the HAMB's very own "HiboyGirl",Faith Granger, who has an incredible passion for hot rodding. Can't wait for the movie to be on screen. I'll make the popcorn, let's support this project!!! www.deuceofspadesmovie.com Faith you rock too!
My better half Sue is really passionate about Hotrods, She doesn't seem to have any fear at all. Her own car Here she is racing my T, It was her first time on the strip and in a 12 second car, hit the wall unfortunately due to driving through the burnout water and went straight to the line !!! Kept her boot in and still ran a 16 though !!! Mad. Not too much damage apart from a bent back wheel and panhard rod and it was a very hard hit, I'm kinda proud of her really.
Woman have always been involved around cars as drivers, owners, mechanics, supporters and many clubs would never function without the work that gets put in by female members. However the tatooed tarts that so often are hanging over cars etc are certainly not traditional. Can't help thinking how they will look in a few years.....pretty shaby I suspect. They certainly don't represent anything in Rodding that I recognise. It reaqlly pisses me off when I open a magazine and every photo is a soft porn type shoot and the car is secondary. In my view that bullshit is a insult to all the really great women from the past and the heaps who are invoved now. End of rant.
I never realized just how judgmental the HAMB is towards the color of a girls skin. Having tattoo's does not make you a car person, hell it don't even make you a sailor. BUT not having them does not make you any better then a girl with. Ragdoll and I are smeared in ink. Hell I even fly from Cali to Texas just to see Barnett...........I double dog dare anyone of you to tell me I'm not into mechanics, whether it be cars, trucks, planes, trains or tractors. Those women posted in all the black and whites are BEAUTIFUL, beyond a doubt. But let's face it, women today are nothing like women of yesterday.................and neither are the men.
I'm with you man. Just sounded like you were trying to dictate what a woman should or shouldn't look like.
My wife LOVES old cars. She is a BIGreason I am getting back into building these. I have been into rockcrawling for a while now, and she would get right into the garage with me and weld, grind, wrench,... Now she is busy with work, but she can't wait until this summer when she has the time to help me out with my build. As for women in motorsports, in Rockcrawling, they have an entire circuit dedicated to women driving the series. Women in rockcrawling is making it VERY big now. Dima
HOLY SHIT, she went right for the double dog dare! Unreal. You guys are fucked now.:_ Shoebox Mags has tatts. And she was right in there covered in dirt when we tore the shoebox down. Just ask the guys what she looks like when she's all dolled up too. And they've all seen her rolling down the road on her Harley as well. She also helped move the shop when I was hurt. All four days, no complaints, just "what's next?" Actually, she was VERY sexy. Dago T, grease and dirt on her arms, and a nice sheen of sweat.........uh, I better stop now.
Thanks so much for posting the photos and articles Jimmy B. I wonder how many of those gals are still around? I bet they have some real stories!
Yup, having tattoos or not is really just a personal apearence thing. It doesn't really tell you what's inside. We have a gal with several tattoos in our club who put together a bitchin' Pontiac powered Model A pick up, we have another gal ion our club with no tattoos at all currently putting together a 318 Polysphere powered Model A Tudor. Same deal for the guys in our club, all different types. Tattoos, no tattoos, greaser, surfer, long hair, older, younger it don't matter, we're all into old style hot rod and like to have a good time. That's what counts.
Wow, and to think I'm impressed by a woman that dos'nt think it's illegal to pump her own gas. Great thread here.
Kind of off topic but gotta give the gal credit. Leslie Porterfield, owner of High Five Cycles in Dallas, attempted a land speed record on the salt this year but crashed out her turbo Hyabusa at close to 200 MPH. This girl has got the stuff! She's OK and back at it...
Damn straight, this girl don't mess around! =O) I think any female who can hold it together, no matter what sport is a ruler......esp in a man's sport. That blonde on the bike is just as note worthy.
Here's a good one about women motorists that just showed up in my in box. They weren't hot rodders, but they certainly showed that kind of spirit. You had to be made of sterner stuff to drive cross-country in 1909. http://www.motorcities.org/storyoftheweek.asp -Dave
Though probably better known for being the first women in the world to exceed 300mph down a quarter, Rachelle Splatt is a women born and raised with traditional hotrod in the blood. And I believe deserves a mention.
well my wife is not a car gal, at all. but she still loves me for it! my daughter on the other hand..im worried about..(not) ..she has been into cars, cycles, and airplanes since she was old enough to enjoy them with her dad. Shes only 9 now and excited about the model a were playing with. all that and shes still pink bows, dolls and kittys..but she knows a cool car when she sees one.
My wife has helped me pull motors, install transmissions, sand, paint and is a great source for ideas because she's a great artist. She's cool with me cutting or drilling at midnight even though our bedroom is over the garage. Don't get any better! 51Fourdoor
