I'm blown away by the 32 chev three window coupe......I saw a random pic, a while ago on the internet, and have been waiting to see more of it. R&C featured it in the new issue and it's perfect. The car is a nice departure from "Real Henry" deuces with v-8's (name your favorite gas hog) SO, LET'S HAVE MORE MORE MORE of this kind of stuff...PLEASE!!!! Oh yeah, does anybody have any more pics?
I'm sorry I don't , but do you have any pictures of that 30 roadster ? Seems I seen it at a goodguys event in Rochester Mi a few years ago. Mike
That Chevy was just plain cool. Everything from the straight 6 to the menacing stance is perfect. I would not mind if was sitting in my garage begging for me to thrash on it a bit. Oh, and I would do so gladly.
Bryan....that's the shot I was looking for, a straight on profile. I lightened up the pic a bit....thanks again
No prob Hatch...I wish I could've got a shot without the SUV's and the kidnap van in the background, but oh well....that's what Photoshop's for Bryan
He loses me with the six. Gorgeous car but would have been perfectly with a 283 with rams horns. I can't understand why people would put a six in a hot rod. I know some of them are high HP but man, they look like a square peg in a round hole.
well, boys and girls, this could be a tough case. The 6 is what makes it. the 283 comment is almost a death sentence, but at least he is on this site learing and not some other. there is hope because at we didn't get the "rat rod" term used. Why a 6??? Because to some of us, there is no other engine. Eveyone knows chevy quit building engines in '62
Al, like you I'm usually V8 kinda guy. However, over the oast few years I've come to appreciate the "odd ball" engines that have been popping up in many of the cars. The sixes are just so visually appealing - I love them. So brother, open your arms and embrace the diversity of engines other than V8's. Or not!!! Just like me, we all have a right to our own opinions.
Just sat down with my copy and what a refreshing change of pace. There is absolutely no indication that its nothing but a "HOT ROD" pure and simple. I'm betting he gets more looks and conversation than any "blueprint' car around and the sound of a properly exhausted 6 is music you'll not sooon forget. Two thumbs up (that's all I have or I'd give it more) Frank
Love it. That's the first thing I read in the last R&C issue. The fact that it's a Chevy coupe and has a sixxer with all those carbs just really makes that car. Wonder if the owner/builder is a HAMB member? Malcolm
I think it's ironic that it's one of the most beautiful chevy's ever built............................because it has incorporated many Ford parts. (frame horns, front suspension, etc..)
I know I would have a tough tim building that thing in my head let alone in physical form if it were not for the HAMB. The engine is a 310 right? I would love to hear that thing growl compared to my own 235.
Saw that car at Paso... Blew me away. The body AND the engine. One of the coolest 6's I've laid eyes on.
Oh I understand..... believe me. I've been at this game a long time. It would be a much cooler car with an old 283 with mechanical fuel injection or even 2 4 barrels AND a 4 spd. All the chrome in the world on a 6 cylinder won't make it anything other than a 6 cylinder. But, opinions, just like bellybuttons, we all have one. Some of us two
The only thing cooler in that car wouldn't be a v-8.....but a Jimmy 6 with a Wayne cyl head would make me wet.
Love the car, I remember when the chassis was being built at my old job I knew it was gonna be killer. from the times that I spoke with him the owner seemed like a very cool cat, if he's not a member, he should be. Here's some web coverage with chassis build pics from my previous employer's site: http://hotrodscustomstuff.com/rod-custom-02-08.html http://www.deucesteel.com/houston.html
You can say the same thing about a '32 with a v8. It's just not the same car without the six. With an 8, it's just another beautiful '32.
Dave has wanted to build a car around a 6 for a long time. He was going to do a 32 Ford with a 6, I'm glad he went with a Chevy body. The frame is 32 ford. Dave is on the HAMB, though he only looks in once and a while. I can't remember his HAMB name, but I'll look it up later. I haven't talked to him in a few years, I worked with him at his shop for a while. He drives the car a lot too. Drove it from Livermore CA. to Paso, and back. I've been friends with his brother for a long time. His brother Darrin has a neat 32 Ford 5 window, and was building a 32 Ford Roadster with a Hemi. I don't know how that's going as I haven't talked to him for a while either. Looks like I need to make some phone calls. Here's a picture of Darrin's 32. Dean
i like the look of the car but why does it have a 32 ford gas tank and is that on a 32 ford frame also, dont get me wrong i reallly like the car, but i wouldnt have put any ford parts on it to carry the theme through. actually.....i have a 32 chev 3 window body and just cant decide exactly how i want to build it, but i wont have any 32 ford body parts on it. jeff
Sup Drew!! I remember doing that frame, man was it a pain!! the old style ford ends were a ton of work but look sick on the steering and bones. I havent seen the car inperson yet but would love to!! Any one know if it will be at the GNRS>? TIM
