My wife is awsome. She has helped me haul home all of my project cars and never complains (we have hauled and traded 6 cars in 1 year). She loves my A coupe and encourages me to finish it, she want to drive it. For a gift she surprised me by borrowing my daily 4X4 and got it lifted. She works at an auto parts store and brings me home parts all the time and she finds all the hard to find parts I need. I guess a guy could not be any luckier.

  3. My wife grants me most Saturdays in the shop, she has even helped me part out cars to fuel my hobby. Although she doesn't like hi-boys or open headers she does like my hardtop.

  4. I have always said that getting married was the best thing I have ever done in my life. She has been my best friend for 36 years and my wife for 34 years. I knew she was a keeper when she helped me pay for the parts to finish my '50 panhead chopper I was building in '72. When I went to pick her up at her parents house with it, her dad told her she wasn't going anywhere on it. She told him "yes she was" and away we went. I got drafted and she came over to Europe with me and we got married over there in the Bamberg, Germany courthouse. After I got out I was into bikes for a lot of years after that but she hated my racing due to the danger. When I got back into cars in '95 she was totally with it. I now have 16 cars and she has approved of most of them. Sometimes it pisses her off when I buy something without telling her about it first. She made the decision to buy the most expensive car we ever bought, a restored Deuce roadster, which is her car. She is into old cars as much as I am and helps any way she can. She can work shoulder to shoulder with me in anything we do. She does almost all the yard work and all the house work so I can work on the old cars in my spare time. She has been my co-pilot for every mile of the 48K I have put on our Deuce roadster except for one Bonneville trip. We just did a 5200 mile trip to the LA Roadster Show in it this summer by ourselves and had the best time ever. It gets better every year.

You guys are all making me jealous!

I think my wife only pretended to like car shows and auto racing until after we were married, LOL

I guess it's pretty much a 50/50 operation for us.

I do 95% of the work, I say 95% because she hung the exhaust last month, sewed the door panels, and helped with the sanding.

But for the most part I do the wrench turning and she takes care of locating parts, checking through the catalogs, and calling the venders to order things. She also takes care of what shows we go to each year, calling ahead to get rooms and getting us registered.

    We're a team after all.

We've been together 16yrs., and she kids me that she never pushed any cars, till she met me (lol) and like others have said," as long as ALL the bills are paid" I can work on my stuff. she's the greatest and I am truely blessed that she is with me.

    This thread is great.

I'll speak for my guy and say that yes, his girl is definitely supportive of the hobby and car crazy. We actually met when he upholstered my '51 Chev.

Now, as for him being supportive of me, he totally is. Except for the other day when I was on the HAMB Classifieds scheming on how I was going to get a certain car home from Colorado. He pretty much said he was going to "kill the internet."

My wife kicks major butt. We came to a crossroads with the tube buggy I was building to compete in. We sat down and talked about it, and she said she always wanted a hot rod. So here I am, trying to build one. She helps me uot in the garage with moral support mainly. She buys me parts for my birthday, christmas, and just because. She puts in her .02 when I ask for it. She is a true rockstar, and can't wait until I am done.

  14. I am going to have to get to Brookings and look you up one of these days. I have run into Steve (18N57) a few times since he first posted here. Look me up if you are coming to Sioux Falls sometime. By the way, the pic I posted of my wife with the Deuce was at SoCal's shop so it isnt one of ours but I'll post one of her Deuce roadster.

My woman is a hardcore Gemini :multiple personalities.
She will tell me to follow my dreams and do what makes me happy and in the same breath berate me for spending all my time, energy and money on old, rusty, stinky, noisy piles of junk.

She appreciates nice old cars, but fails to appreciate what it takes to get there. She might be better off with a gold-chainer who could just purchase a finished car, but she's got me: Mr. Greasy Knuckles and Empty Pockets.

She doesn't mind riding on one though (haven't tested a real hot rod on her yet ... :D) and has offered on numerous occasions to dress up like a pinup and do whatever I want on or in the car... Guess I better hurry up and finish one before either I'm an old man who can't get it up or she's let her best parts fall to her belly button, if you know what I'm talkin about.

Stood in the yard for several hours one night selling a truck to some hillbillies while I went to buy a GTX......fuckin' keeper. Killer mama to our kids....fuckin' keeper.... and my grandad used to sell her grandad moonshine makin' supplies decades before we were born....must have been meant to be....and oh yeah, she hates country music and rap just as much as I do!!!!!fuckin' keeper.

Sally is very supportive, she is my co-conspirator, driver of the Edsel..However I spend entirely too much time sitting in the car waiting for her to get ready, make up her mind, shopping. etc..I think as long as I put up with the five dogs and twelve cats she will let me do whatever turns me on..She loves Studebakers and Edsels, although she tends more to the stockers.."what happened to the door handles?", "How does that thing get over speed bumps?"..She is very good at the sewing machine too..I still have the leather and rabbit skin cosmic cowboy shirt she made for me in 1968, of course I can't fit into it anymore....

I have to say I'm pretty lucky here. I married a car chick who does not mind helping me work on them. While she's not rebuilt any engines, she's more than willing to help and hate guys who do know anything about cars.

She loves the ones that run and tolerates most of the ones that don't. I thought she was going to kill me when I bought the 57 Olds wagon but she loved it.

One of our favorite things to do on Saturday morning is sneak out before the kids are up and take the Fiat and go to Starbucks and then hit yard sales.

When I met my wife 45 years ago I was working on my '34 Ford and she tollerated my "hobby" of about 40 cars up to the mid '70s. Then she said I was spending too much time on the cars and not enough with the kids, and that I had to get rid of the cars (2 T touring cars at that time), so I got rid of them.
In the late '80s my oldest son got interested in Mustangs for a couple of years and that helped me with my obsession.
Then when I retired three years ago I said to her Now can I have some old cars again? She said "Go for it" but only one car.:)
Last year at this time I had four 26 T Coupes which she wasn't too happy with, but I keep trading anyway. She keeps asking me...... "Are you having fun?" - YES, I AM:D

I win. I have the best wife. :D
Here is my family and pit crew at the CHRR. My wife riding shotgun. My 8yo in the back seat and my 13yo carrying extra fuel up to the staging lanes. Needless to say she is VERY supportive of my sickness.
