Where is 40Stude dude when you need him. He's got a sweet old stude that's about as custom as they come. Its rare that you see a K body like that one customized. They usually get the full go fast treatment and more often than not become Lakster clones. I'm not a big custom gy myself but the line of the K body lend themselves well to cusomizing. I can't believe we don't see more of 'em tweeked to the max.
I never got any pics but the guy that painted the "Rudy Truck" with the TJ Hookers has worked on a lot of Stude Kustoms. I briefly talked to him about kustoms at a Stude show many years ago. Him and his dad ran a Radiator/ kustom shop in El Monte,Ca. I have yet to see any completed customs out of that shop. But about ten years ago they were giving away a pair of stude body shells and rolling chassis, we went down to the shop and saw some of the customized Studes in the shop. The image is burned in my mind if I see him again I'll ask him about them, or if somebody could chime in.
Awww P & B...I'm embarrassed..and honored that you'd remember my old Stude sled...I've been off working on my next sled...a '55 Caddy Coop DeVille...not only a skirted sled, but some body changes...just like in the old days...hope to have it on the road this summer... Anyway, here's a pic of my "Kustom"... R-
I think this is Lost Angel's killer Stude custom. Taken at the Nostalgic Drags at Lancaster, NY............
Some nice customs here. Anybody know the "Crescendo", a '55 with custom front end and a set-back nailhead? Can't find my magazine with that car.
I like the Lost Angel Killer, cool custom with the quad lights. Really hits close to home in looks when it comes to my blown SBC, 3" chopped, shaved and airbagged Retro-Rod. In the final build stage. Custom Ducktail, made from an extra trunk lid, sunken licence plate and body integrated roll pan. '52 taillight bezel finish off the tops of the fenders and immitate the swooping lines of the ducktail. Rear fenders moved out 2" at the back and tapering forward, making much needed room for the big wheels and giving the rear a wider stance.
I owned this custom '55 Speedster a while back... Here it was originally... Just bought this one that was in the '59 ORS...
Really love the front end of the Speedster and the (revised) taillight treatment. Somewhere I have that magazine feature, but can't search now. Was the pickup a Conestoga wagon body or a coupe in its former life?
Jack Lentz, (the builder of the Golden Rod, see here: http://www.sportscarmarket.com/Profiles/2001/August/American/ ) built some Stude C and K body customs. Anybody got pics?
The white '55 has a '62 Chrysler grille and lights. The lights work, don't know if I like the bubble-effect to the hood. The original version uses a '56 New Yorker grille.
Kool ride I stumbled onto yer page a few days ago and went through it all....I just moved to NS myself in Windsor for now anyways...what do you know about modified cars here? Any BS gettin em on the road?? Steve
HA HA HA! Are you really that gullable? This car belongs here, like a fart in Church!!! You DO realize this is the HAMB,right? I wlii say that you do nice work though...
