After reading the amazing stuff that was posted during Tech Week, not to mention the everyday information available on here, day in,and day out,I find myself thinking about the power of the HAMB.
All day at work I kept thinking about the variety of information available on here for everyone to see.
I'm 55 years old, started buying and reading the little books when I was 12.
I THOUGHT I knew a little about cars...
I can talk a good game, but with the long hours I work in my business, what I have to show for a lifetime of obsession with customs and hot rods is a garage full of several unfinished projects, some of them started before some of you guys were even born.
Hopefully I will finish some of them,it's damn hard to work 12-14 hours a day sometimes, and get much done in the garage..
But that's not why I'm writing this.
I wish I was 20 years old again, and had the HAMB.
I am ****ing amazed at the generosity of the people who post on here regularly, and share a lifetime of knowledge with those of us who need it.
There is no other place that I know of to get this kind of help and inspiration.
So after I laugh my *** off every day at something on here,I learn more than I could ever learn anywhere else.
After the drama,****-talking,and general BS,this is the best thing I've ever found on the internet...Hell,I even like that ****,too.
You young guys that don't have much experience building and enjoying traditional cars can skip a lot of mistakes by being on the HAMB.
Something I didn't have over the years.
The quality of cars being built today is,in my opinion, much higher because of the HAMB.
The only reason I turn the computer on in the morning when I get to work...........the HAMB.
Think of the people who post on here everyday, the ones who know their **** inside-out...How many years of experience is here to help you?? How many THOUSANDS of years of experience??
When better cars are built, the HAMB will help build them.
Sorry for the warm and fuzzy,I get that way everytime a Tech Week comes around.
Yeah,I know,it's time to re-up my Alliance membership..
Thanks to Ryan, and all who make this possible.

If it wasn't for the old HAMBers my car would have been s****ped by now and i would have given up. It's not easy trying to find information on how to do work on a 53 chevy when everyone around you is working on a ****ing honda

Well said, man. I don't have a lot of experience with hot rods, but at 47, I got off my *** last year and started one. It's the best decision I have made in a long time, but I would be no where or would have had to do things over a few times without the knowledge that is here and a couple other sites I'm on. Hell, I may have even given up. I come here, I sit and I learn.

While the almighty dollar is a heavy factor in whether or not a project gets finished, knowledge can be a killer too. This site has done a great job of eliminating one of the two pitfalls of building a Hot Rod.

Hamb AARP you say?? I am 65 and still can party with the best of em ! Hot Rodding has kept me young !~!

  16. SHAME on you for having unfinished projects that were started before some members were born! But, I give you a little credit(?) for admitting it. Get off the internet, and get in the garage as your avatar claims for god sakes. I'm 53. Two days ago I pulled the motor from a customers 67 Grand prix, drilled and repaired several broken bolts in the heads for the exhaust manifolds, and put it back in the car and running in 7 1/2 hours. Moral, It's not gonna fix itself. Get the **** after it! I don't care how many hours you work a day. To not finish something that was started as many years ago as you state? Unbelievable

I have to agree, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't find something on here that I file away for use on my current project. You just can't find that sort of thing in the real world. Nobody has that many knowledgeable friends that you can get a hold of 24/7/365.

Even though folks (including me) are sometimes grumpy here, there simply is no better collection of hotrodding knowledge anywhere.

Huzzah! for the creator. Huzzah! for the HAMB. And while I'm at it, Huzzah! for cars made from real metal (if my Model A had been made from 28 or 32 ga stuff like today's autos, it'd been a little rust colored pile 30 yrs ago ;) ).

youthful exuberance on one side, Hamb in the middle, experience on this side

    The perfect HAMB sandwich

  21. I could add more, but instead I will watch a little Mad Fabricators, and go to sleep dreaming about the day my hot rod is on the road, with a lot of help from my friends and the H.A.M.B.

  22. I keep tell people this is the best place in town. When they ask me a question that I don't have an answer for this is the first place I send them. The HAMB RULES!!!!

  23. Right on.

What I think about a lot is, if a guy pays attention to the right posts and does a little searching past posts, he can save a ton of hours going down or even starting down the wrong road or wrong attack on a problem or project.

Not to mention buying the wrong parts on a situation, putting the project $800.00 behind with a pile of the wrong stuff laying there to get rid of.

How many posts have there been where someone was all fired up
to spend a bunch on a certain combination, or build a certain motor, and they just happened to post their intentions just to have some credible people say "been there, done that, ran like ****, try this instead". What a load of time, trouble, money and dissapointments that just saved....

The Hamb keeps me motivated even if I only work on my project 5 hrs a week. The key is not losing sight of the goal and the hamb keeps me coming back and keeps my interest in the right place.

Its because of real world experience that I come here first to get answers. You can't buy that anywhere. I'm in my mid 30's and know a little about cars but its the ones that lived them that makes me come back to learn from them. I appreciate that the most.:D

keeps the so called "generation gap" bridged! nice thing also is the cars that stay alive by determination and sharing a vision. i have had my fair share of muscle cars and still own a few but you never hear anybody at a hot rod show say: nice, but the numbers don't match!
