    reverse engineering! yeah i just love building something and then it works. learning something new everyday. if you were to just build the same 32 over and over youd get board. we all had dads that were into cars. its our bond that just wont die.....

    oh did i metion i kinda like driving them too! :D

  2. The build. Then the test drive to make sure it all works. Then back to the shop to cut it all apart and start building another from the parts.

    Racing.

    My least favorite part of hot-rodding?

    Suspended driver's licenses and mega-expensive car insurance.

    When I was younger;
    Car shows and the build.

    Now;
    Backroad country drive with my wife at my side.

    Not tryin' to impress anyone.

    Yea, good times.

    Oh and makin' new 'traditional' friends and the HAMB...!

  11. Rusty boogers, metal shaving slivers, spending it before the wife does, battery acid holes in my good shirts, worn out knees in the levis, and finally firing up the heap and going out for a ride. The whole world looks better thru the window of an old car...

    finding all the pieces for the build and the the first sunset run all by my self

  13. There are many parts to it that get me going..

    First off is the hunt for all the **** I need to finish each one. Getting a package on the doorstep makes me feel like a kid at Christmas..every time.

    Second is finding out that what you thought in your brain about doing actually works.

    Third is the first start up, and moving it up and down the driveway under its own power.

    Fourth is driving it for the first time..That actually feels better than all 3 of the above, but at each stage, those are the highlights for me.

    Actuall now that I typed all that out, I just like it. The good, the breakdowns, the good days and bad. Its all good...
    If I didn't have old cars to screw around with, I'd probably be in prison..

    I love drivin! Cruising down the road in your car,people honking,thumbs up,camera phones,people who almost wreck trying to get your attention. For a brief moment in time,you feel like a celebrity.
    The other thing might sound kinda corny,but...all the guys i've met since I joined the HAMB. Great car guys...great friends!

  20. I'm not sure I understand the question exactly. But, I like adding a lot more power than was intended, and driving my cars anywhere. Even if just to the store or lunch. Especially to events that are a few hour drive with others where every stop's an adventure along the way

    My favorite part has got to be The Drive. I mean, thats the whole point of The Hunt, and The Build, right? But I do love The Sit And Pretend Your Driving Your Nonrunning Project And Make Motor Sounds part too.......kind of a toss up!

    Later- John

    I think it may be, more than anything else, because it makes me feel like a kid again. I was fortunate enough to have been involved with cars since day one. I grew up getting to ride in a '56 Chevy, '67 Firebird 400, and several 70s Firebird Formulas. There were also two '37 Pontiacs in the garage. I also remember going for rides in Dad's friend's cool cars(30s Ford? pickup and '62 Vette a**** others). I got to see many cool cars come out of my Dad's shop('71 Vega Pro Street, '61 Fury convert, '46 Ford bus. cpe, '69 Roadrunner, '39 Mercury, '34 Ford, lots of Trans Ams and Camaros,etc.). Plus I got to spend time surrounded by street rods and drag cars at the shops of my Dad's friends. I was very fortunate.

    I skip cruises and shows
    and even big shows
    to stay home and work.
