  4. AF-4 Is a Trans-Dapt number

According to my 65 Moon Catalog. This adapter is Early Ford Tranny (32-48) or Merc (39-50) to a Ford 221, 260 or 289 V8

Weren't there two different bolt patterns on those new-fangled overhead Fords? Could that be what's confusing the matter?

Yep, there's two bolt patterns for SBF's. They changed in the late '60's.

    They changed around 1965...

The lil inch engines & EARLY 289s had a 5 Bolt bell.... then went to a 6 bolt bell
