It has been hard for me to accept the fact that you could possibly build something cooler than the Lunar Lander. :) Really glad I popped in to catch this thread. A real inspiration!!!!

It doesn't really matter as long as they are all the same. I figured it would be easier to come up with the 8ba's.

Clark, we can all park together! I'll call you.

    Matt, pimpin' ain't easy!

Here are some pics from last nights adventure. I have been opening the top by just putting the leads on the battery and it worked fine. Last night I actually hooked up the motor control unit that will run the motor in conjunction with the remote control unit and it draws too much power and kicks the relay out. So I have to go back to the drawing board and make some sort of spring assist for the top. I already had helper springs on there, but I guess I need to make some sort of a "popper" to get it to go up at the start.

Check out the awesome turn signal buttons! I did my best Steve Sellers and broke out the files to make the square holes for the buttons. Of course after careful measuring I put the first one in only to find out I had to move it about half an inch back in order to make it line up where the other one so it could clear the top actuator underneath it. So basically I will be doing a bunch of backpeddling this week.

I also began sorting things out of the harness I don't need like dome light, horn, dome light and door switch, and does anyone know what the hell a RAPID light is??? it is in with the dash light power wire. I can only figure that I don't need it. The power window fuse will run the top motor, and of course, I need to figure out all that a/c bullshit. I hate this part of a build........

  9. what amp relay are you using?? we use a 200a relay on alot of "pop trunk" set ups.the 200a relay is basically a ford starter solenoid. use your relay to feed the solenoid which is wired directly to the battery... might help.

It is all fed into an autoloc motor control unit. It has a bunch of different leads that you can program at different heights and use momentarty switches with them. It is what I have to use to be able to use the remote control unit I guess. I am not sure of the amperage, but the linear actuator has pretty small leads on it and gets most of its power through mechanical advantage and screw action. That sounds kinky doesn't it???

Part of all the problems I had last night was the fact that I reached into the garage fridge and guess what....NO BEER! The Horror.....

I'm going to have to have a talk with the Ol Lady about that.

I can drop by Thursday night and give ya a hand with the wiring if you'd like. Like Matt said, run the output of the relay to the S pole of a Ford solenoid.............it'll handle just about anything you throw at it.

Thanks Tim, but I got it all working tonight. I built a heavy duty "popper" that works off of the lever that opens the top. It only took me 3 tries and 4 hours of cutting and welding upside down with my head crammed up under the dash and my legs up over the decklid. I still need to finish it up under there a bit but I have had enough for one night. I have a bad back and I am sure feeling it right now.

I think it is now official, I have more time and engineering in the top than I had in the whole Sea Hag truck project.

Tomorrow night I will get back on the wiring after I finsh up the welding on the helper mechanism.

.....by "Contact", I am assuming that you are talking about the abduction and anal probing.

Why is it in every abduction story aliens travel thousands of light years to a strange planet for the sole purpose of shoving things up human assholes????

I guess that statement goes right along with your license plate huh , quoting a Slaughter song. Man I love 80"s rock. That thing going to have some tunes in it so you can rock out cruising down the road?
