Are 4doors going to be the new craze

best reply on this whole thread so far. WHO CARE'S WHAT THE HELL YOU DRIVE? whatever happened to run what you brung? or in most of our cases the first car you could find with the 200 bucks that you had

I hate old cars, I'm building a brand spakin new Scion XA, even though I'm not quite sure if it can get enough speed to get on the freeway, and it looks like it should have toast sticking out of the roof. You better believe it's getting the giant fart can and useless wing, hell I'll put on 2 useless wings.

Car is pretty cool but man you need to get a better looking model!!

 

I dig some 4 door cars but i think of it this way i would rather have a 4 door car then be driving my daily to a car show. Even better would be turning an old four door into my daily!

Remeber that early in hot rodding, it was pretty rare to run anything but a roadster. 32s were often taken off their chassis and tossed aside eek, and a model A or T roadster body was often transplanted (smaller body=better aerodynamics). Now look at where we're at today...a hot rodded tudor or fordor is a pretty common sight. My two cents...it's just a matter of time before it's the same situation with customs.

Build what you can. It's better than sitting around dreaming.

 

Hey the cheaper more-doors will help fill in the shows with more of the freshly tattooed, new club shirt wearing, brand new plaque hanging, ready to fight cool kids we have coming now. Should be fun! The really good news is that even if only one car shows up we'll get six of them Look out Viva!!

 

I sold my 2 dr fastback, and now have a 4dr hardtop. Same roofline as the 2 door and room for all my friends.

Looks cool to me and thats all I really care about.

Who cares? I think this arguement started in the late 1800s and is still raging on today. We got a fordor, wouldn't have it any other way.

lol if you wanna get technical i dont even own a 4 door ive got a 48 2 door sedan fleetmaster the caddys not mine it belongs to a buddy. just stating my opionon that 4 doors can be cool. but hey all you 4 door bashers just keep on bashin, that just means they will be cheaper for the guys thats not afraid to drive one. this is as bad as the ford vs chevy crap. who cares what it is aslong as its cool and runs. atleast its not some lil jap scrap with a wing on back so big it looks like a over grown shopping cart.

 

One cool thing so far I dont think anyone has mentioned...if you just have a "hankering" like me every so often for "I need one of those..." You can get one ina 4 dr for less money, not make the big commitment. I go thru cars like undies...I bought my 55 Olds just cuz I wanted one one day...it was a Monday to be exact. Looked at two that week, and luckily landed a 80k mile original barn fresh 4 dr hardtop Holiday for $300 later that week! If that were a 2 dr ht? Sheeeeesh. Now...not saying I paid full price either, still got a deal...but you get the point.

BTW...I built the car up, motor/trasns swap, bunch of bodywork, drove it for a week and sold it. But...I wanted one, and I had one!

 

I am purchasing a 1960 Olds Dynamic 88 Holiday this weekend that is a 4 door. I love the fact that is a no post. To me that helps on the 4 doors.

 

I have 2 daughters with disabilities and it's hard to get them and their stuff into a 2 door. Family car 4 doors are economical and user friendly. I can solve the problem, buy one of each.

 

On the left we see Roadrunner's truck driving through the wall into the building to escape Wylie's truck on the right which will, unfortunately, bounce off the wall.

 

New craze or not, you won't see me with a 4 door unless it's a particular style wagon.

ok heres a queston, if 4 door sedans can never be cool, why are 4 door wagons cool? i mean they did make 2 door wagons ya know, so why would you settle for a 4 door wagon when you could pay out the ass for a 2 door wagon??

 

Cool or un-Cool! Who gives a shit. Drive what you want, like or can afford. I have a 4 door mild custom that works out real well for when I have friends along. Nobody has to wiggle and jiggle their fat ass trying to get in or out of the rear seat. Big old car, great hiway cruiser. I also have a 2 door streetrod. 4 doors would have been nice with it also, but 2 works fine. Rarely put anybody in the rear seat except me or the dog.

 

not again........who cares....four doors, two doors, NO doors, ...if its a car that you like or can build it to your liking....who the fuck cares about the "craze".

honestly, i'm more interested in what makes these old beasts drive than how many doors it has.

and for the record, four doors have been "the craze" for some time....at least for this generation of cars being produced....even "sports cars" have four doors, trucks too.

but that's just me...

Don't really care myself! I got my 53 pickup and then my wife and I picked up this awesome super clean 61 4-door for her and so when we have kids I can keep the truck. She's a keeper, the car too...

 

if you're clever enough, you should be able to make a hotrod out of anything, i've seen a lowered divco milk truck that looked great

...a 4 door sedan looks more like something gangsters would be riding around in, once you paint it black

 

What if you lob the top off? Then you have that "Wow, you drive a convertible" factor to get the chicks AND the easy access to the back seat!

Even with all the negative posts about four doors I do not regret buying my Falcon in the least.

You know what's sad? I'm gonna bet there's a few here that will "know where one is, in a barn"

 

Not to say that there can't be or aren't any decent 4-doors out there....but I don't care what it is, how rare, who made it, what's been done to it, or how hard everyone else tries to justify it.....in my worthless closed minded personal opinion, no 4-door will ever be nearly as cool as it's 2-door counterpart. Ever.
