The past two years at B'ville I've helped with the Bean Bandits crew. The Rolling Boners are always pitted nearby, so I have been able to spend some time hanging out with them. They're good guys who build killer machines and like to have a good time. Their drive to the salt makes my drive from Phoenix look like a trip to the 7-11. Hardcore.
Hot Rodding in about as pure a form as you'll find today. thanks to the Rolling Bones for making it real. Frank
These guys have been doin' it right out here on the east coast for years now...glad to see that they are gettin the well deserved coverage. They have built some hot rods for some well heeled guys here lately, too!!!!
Hey guys, thanks for all of the kind words. I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time to check the trailer out and I'd like to thank Ryan for putting it up. The Jalopy Journal is his Labor of Love and this film is mine. I don't think that I could have picked a better subject, Ken and Keith are the real deal.
Met a couple of those guys at So Cal Speed Shop pomona a few years ago , they had driven there cars out for the L A roadster . BAD ASS ....
man i love the part at about 1:50 where the lightning cracks and they just keep moving on, letting nothing get in there way...great video.
The Rolling Bones. Yeah, they rule. Helped show me that hotrods can be driven and still be hotrods. My high point was catching those guys when they stopped in Omaha on the way to the salt a couple of years ago. way cool! Jeff
If you like than then you'll defiantly like when they swap out a head gasket on the side of the road, and when they... There's a lot of good stuff in this thing, I don't want to spoil it too much. Some good interviews with Ken and Keith too.
Huge road trip. A religous pilgramage complete with trials and challenges for the faithful to overcome. Love the footage of jammin' thru the storm. That's as close as you can get to "in the spirit (of the old days)". Livin' it!
Hope I can visit Bonneville one day and see that. That clip made me want to take my roadster out in the snow and drive the shit out of it!
I made the trip this last summer for the first time in my 48 four door modified flathead six Plymouth from central Texas, just an old buddy and myself. Was planning a two car trip but his 30 model A flathead powered coupe is still not finished after fifteen years of off, on again work. I have wanted to go since I read in hot rod about the first bonneville for hot rods in 48. It has taken a long time to make it the first time as I am 71 years young, but hope to do it again many times before I die. Know several in the Inliners who run ever year at Bonneville so plan on seeing them run again. Every Hot Rodder should make the trip in an old car, its the only to go.
Cool. This reminds me of all the "I'd never take my car out on the salt" posts after B-ville. I'm glad I did, we'll never forget the trip. You HAVE to find time to do it one time in your life!
These guys are way cool, I talked with them at Bonneville in 2005. It's amazing what and how they do everything. Very Cool!
