a vollkswagen notchback???? I LOVE VOLKSWAGEN NOTCHBACKS!!!!!! i just never thought i'd see one on here
I had a beautiful one back in 1980. Wish I still had it. Be a cool daily... (ps-at least it's not a Bug!)
If those were real BRM's they would be in Europe with all the other cool VW stuff. They have that exchange rate working for them. I just sold my killer Cal-Look bug overseas to buy and build my 54. They are cool cars to hop up. A well done 2 liter with some IDA's will surprise the shit out of many unsespecting musclecar driver. I used to love screwing with the big block crowd. My flame suit is on
I like it, I am not a VW guy but it looks cool to me!!!! What year is it and how many years did they build them for? John
Mine was a tan '65 with gold 5-spokes. Original interior. It sat just like yours too! Stock motor. Always thought it would be cool to do one like a mini-gasser.
i had a 64 sedan resto(purchased from a lil old lady from pasadena) an imported 64 Squareback (variant) fitted with a 1776 and polished 2.0 alloys a 56 single cab a 64 sedan RHD cal look resto a 60 sedan my brother has a 54 oval ragtop sedan right now BUT,,,i have always wanted a NOTCH....they are so cool.....(that and a 26 window MICRO)
I used to be a Bug guy way back in the late 80's, and owned a 57, 58, and 61 rag. But I allways wanted to own a notch, by far the coolest looking volks ever made!! I still look for them whenever I get a chance. Very Very Cool!!! Buzz bomb
no they are a 4.5 and 5.5 brm wheel going to paint it a original 63 notch color of anthracite the notch is a 1963.....they built them from 1961 to 1972...none of the notches was ever sold in the us all imported....the squareback and fastbacks was the us cars cool list of cars....mine are 1957 oval 1958 singlecab 1963 notchback 1966 squareback 1966 fastback 1967 squareback 1969 squareback 1972 squareback only one i dont have anymore is the 57 oval all the work to this car ive done my self as in body work suspension work to seats and motor.....the suspention is a custom frontend that i built....narrowed 5 inches to tuck the wheels in hard and i also narrowed the rearend 4 inches....shaved a few things off like bumpers and turn signals....rebuilt the original 1500 motor twinn carbs....i have a love for the old hot rod shaved look.....big and little tires
Squareonair, I used to live right next to VW Paradise, and got a ride in Kris Lauffer's Notch, the one that he used to daily drive to work, that ran a 10.98 at Carlsbad, then back to the Pizza place.... Sam F, you had your choice of (pre-1964) 23 window Deluxe Micro's, or (1964-1967) 21 windows...26 windows didn't exist
Nice notch, the color choice will make it look very classy, I've owned alot of vw's thru the years but never had a notch. a good friend in town has a RHD one but refuses to sell it ... he's gonna fix it up some day...lol.
I'm sure they'll show up. But the bottom line is the car is Old, made out of steel, has chrome on it, looks good lowered, and can be hopped up to go faster. It certainly makes me want another VW.
my first car was a vw if i wasn't so damn big i'd probably get another one but gorillas shouldn't drive powerwheels
Volkswagens suck!!!! Out of all my old cars/trucks, my 63 rag is the one which is always asked if its for sale!!! I feel like a 16 yr old punk everytime i fire it up
Man, I love the way posting a V.W. brings out all the closeted V.W. lovers, myself included. I've still got the convertible I bought 26 years ago when I was 19! I haven't done anything with it in decades! It's tucked away in my garage like a fossil in a cliff wall. I barely notice it anymore. My brother and I bought a 'Notchie' for our little brother when he was about 14. It was a '63 'S' model. We also bought a set of 'chromies' with Michelin 165's & 135's for it. I built a new 1776 long-block for it with dual carbs, Web cam, etc. He wound up selling it before he even drove it. He could kick himself now, and I could too! I never let him forget about it. BTW, very nice!!
two guys with not any strain, can pick the front end up on one of those . It really freaked out the kid in the drivers seat . when me and his dad walked over and picked it up.
those look like the Flat-4 wheels, styled after the old BRMs (the Flat-4's are aluminum and easier to take care of . I had a '64 Notchback about 17 years ago.... and i've still got a set of original BRM's and some Empi GTV goodies hiding away for the right thing. I considered cal-looking the '66 Karmann Ghia I have, but i'd rather work on my American iron nowadays-- so it stays stock for now. Nice looking Notchback, by the way... -scott noteboom
