Sweet. i always toss the thought around my head about stretching the quarters... looks killer. how many inches did you add, and did you use donor quarters or start from scratch?
Im not a man behind those quarters, almost all modifications was done when i bought it. Quarters are stretched 6". Heres a few pics of quarters when i bought it. Hope the pics will tell you more. And one from the last winter
Loveoftiki, Your pictures don't expand when I click on them but what I dig is a good white with a pearl and a flaked dark teal roof with gold pin stripes. Where in the D are you? I'm south of you, almost to Toledo. I dig the T bird grill as well on your car. Cool. Late: Nice stretch job. I was thinking about doing that just to the tail light area.
heres mine, the interior was shot. I had the interior made and I installed it myself. I am working on the body right now here she is! That gasser does look kool!
Sadly, this is the only surviving pic after numerous moves and a divorce. 1954 2 dr ranch wagon, root beer metalic, econoline buckets, back seat removed, bed and curtains added, circa 1976. Built Ford FE, toploader 4spd, 9" rear. Had US Indy slots and Pos-a-tractions all around. Quite the shit at the time for an 18 year old. I named it "The Spirit of '54" (remember when we named cars?) mostly because of all the bicentennial hoopla at the time. Raced it at The County for about 3 years, then sold it and moved on. Back when '50s Fords were cheap and plentiful.....
I am in lively Livonia. I dont know what is up with the pics, I am kind of a computer reject. Thanks for the kind words on the car. I love Customs and I am trying to do this in the 59 - 61 era of customs.
Can't dig up any pics at the moment but I have a '54 Ranch Wagen, stock V-8, 3 speed od trans, runs great. Bought it from the original owner, redid the brakes and lowered it and now drive it.
Just started on a 53 victoria. Replacing rusty old front end with Fatman stub putting in a SBF with 5-speed, replace rear end new springs and brakes.
Nice rides! I have a 54 w/ a 239 anyone know where to get a set of headers for it? I wanna run dual exhaust
You can use 55-57 exhaust manifolds from a dual exhaust car, they flow well too.Headers would have to be custom fabbed, big$$$.Try ebay for the manifolds put" Ford exhaust manifold" in search they show up often.
Got a set of Red's Headers on my 239. They fit nice and Im also running dual exhaust. Good price too, and with Red's you cant go wrong. P.S. Im also looking for a head lamp bezel inner ring, and an upper grill piece for my 52. If anyone has info, PM me.
I'm lookin' for some of them there front fender flares(52-54 Ford). Anybody out there got some ya don't need? PM me if ya do. Thanx, db
Thanks, I think it came out pretty nice. I didn't do the work my buddy Kelly did all the interior work and his brother Doug did flaked the dash. I just did the layout of the sound deadning mat and pre paint prep. Here is a pic of it finished: I still need to put on the door handles and window cranks...plus give it a good cleaning and find chrome spear trim clips for the outside. But now I can just drive it and start to focus on the 29 Sports Coupe project. Anyone know of a good replacement for the steeringbox? Something that turns nicer and is more compact to give clearance so that headers will fit? My steering box is shot, I have about eight inches of play from side to side before it registers to turn.
not a replacement so to speak, but... later model cavalier rack and pinion (or ANY small rack with a center take off) works real good... gotta modify the end of the column, fab a couple brackets to mount it under the frame and add two u-joints to the steering, but it doesnt change the stock steering geometry at all... fatman sells a kit for about $400, but all you're gettin for that is instructions (fatmans are NOT the best in the world) the frame brackets, and the bracket that bolts to the rack takeoff that the inner rod ends attatch too.
mid to late 90's... the ones after they downsized it to less than a ford escort... i have been told that chrysler concord and dodge intrepid racks work just as well, as would any other rack with center take off
Haven't done anything with mine yet, not sure I will get to it, but it was too good to pass up when I found it. Rodshop
NP... did a little searching in my notes (the ones i could find that arent still packed in a box someplace) and in some of my saved links etc... the rack you need is as i mentioned, a center take off unit... the most popular and prolly easiest to find is the cavalier unit, years 86-95...NOT the later ones as i had mentioned before!!! FAST ratio racks: NAPA part # NRP22109 A1 Cardone # 22109 ACDelco # 3616340 CV Unlimited # RP239HD SLOW ratio racks: NAPA # NRP22108 A1 Cardone # 22108 ACDelco # 3616318 CV Unlimited # RP239 APSCO # 4513 price, WITH core is round $110, so boneyard pickin' aint really worth the effort for the $25 core charge you'll save IMO after payin $5 to get onto some yards and the screwin around gettin it off the car plus $15 for the part... your mileage may vary the part that is gonna require the most screwing around with is the bracket that bolts to the takeoff on the center of the rack and receives the inner tie-rods ... take a look at a stock setup where the inner rods mount to the center link, and compare to the mount points on the R&P... the R&P rod end mounts will be facing front center on the rack, and need to be bottom center of the rack, so the bracket is a short stubby "T" then bent over at 90*
