Pictures of Old abandoned cars and Junk you have stumbled upon

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by VNCduke, Dec 24, 2007.

  1. I'm always too busy figuring out how to get them the hell out of there and get them home to stop and take a picture. Didn't get too many this year, maybe half a dozen, but brought home about 40 in 2006.

  4. Here's a few.

The '27-ish T wasn't in bad shape, other than being a tudor with the top cut off. I was there on Wednesday and was told they were supposed to save it, on Friday I find out it had been crushed. That was February 2006.

The others we eventually brought home - the '30 A tudor, the '31 AA truck, and that '49 Ford ragtop on it's side. I actually cut a bunch of stuff off a '50 ragtop that also was there, but was missing the top bows, as the side on the ground was pretty bad. The AA was a tow truck or something like that, the doors read "K&S Garage" -

The last one may still be out there, a '58 Impala ragtop. Was in another place, and the catch was to get it we had to take like 35 cars out of there - most so rotty and vandalized they were beyond saving and had no useable parts left. One '58 Chevy Biscayne 2dr ht was basically a shell, the floors and entire frame were rotted away and all you saw in the trunk was the coil springs leaning at crazy angles and the top half of the rearend housing sticking out of the ground.

  6. One of my favorite things in the world, looking in ditches, ravines, alleys and old buildings for junk... I have recently scored a few good signs.

[IMG][/quote] Usually the owner of these kind of cars will say "Not for sale, I'm going to restore that one soon"

  9. I need to find and post a photo I have of a '62 T-bird convertible in a junkyard that has a tree about that size growing up through the rear footwells. I'd love to know how they ever got that one out, if they ever finally crushed out that part of the yard.

    Great pics 27T !!!!

Amazing that none of them are right side up except the one that's 2/3rds buried.

that one picture of the upsidedown red buick had some visitors in it. Those orbs could have been the long deceased owners or something! Or maybe I just watch too much of the sci-fi channel. Mike

You better act quick! S**** steel is going for $95 bucks a ton around here...that was unheard of a couple years ago when it was more like $7.00 a ton.

The yards with the "old cars" that don't sell a lot of the parts off them are s****ping them now. Grab it while you can...from their perspective, it doesn't make much sense to hold on to the old stuff, hoping one of 'us' comes along someday...when you have $200 staring you in the face...

  24. re 27T's pictures...

I see a few pieces of stainless, and the '50 Pontiac grille might be worth messing with, but it looks like someone stripped them all off the frames and dumped the bodies there.. probably explains why they're mostly upside down.

Hard to tell if any of the tin would live through a derusting, but if it would the rear panels below the deck opening would be good pieces to cut out of them.

That Buick He**** has to be a 46-48, 49-up Roadmasters got the redesigned body. They might have even gotten it for '48, I'd have to look in my book again. If someone sold one like it and only got $1000 it had to be in pieces, or they were doing something wrong.
