Still no snow...Merry Christmas, Ventura style.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kiwi Kev, Dec 25, 2007.

  1. Just got back from a Christmas day afternoon surf. Pretty good waves this afternoon, shoulder to head high. Beautiful sunny day. Check it out at WWW.surfline.com ,So Cal, Ventura, C Street. I've never had a white Christmas in my life. I hear it can be pretty nice but I don't know about ice storms and blizzards.
Anyway, I just wanted to wish Merry Christmas to all my H.A.M.B. friends and thanks for another year of great entertainment. Also a special thanks to Ryan and all he's given us. Thanks Ryan and I'm sure you will enjoy the Ken Burns documentary. It was awesome! Once I stared watching it I couldn't miss a minute of it! Come on 2008, so much to look forward to!!

    Merry X-mas Kev!
First time in my life, we haven't got any snow for christmas. It's kind of odd! Not that i miss snow or freezing cold weather, but if you live up here and have used to it, it will be strange.

I wish i could spend some winters in California...

Ok, i don't know how to surf, but i know how to ski :D

Surfing on Christmas Day, that must be a holiday tradition for alot of you out west........When I was out their for the show, they took us surfing, I think it was some place called ''Old Man's'', I could be wrong on the name.........They got some great footage of me practically drowning trying to surf for the first time.....not to mention they had good fun with how white I was when I got into the surf gear......I am from Ohio what do you want.............But that footage never made the show........but I will say I stayed in the water all day until I finally stood up on the board and rode a wave, I only did it twice.....But it felt as good as putting DeathsDoorStep down on the ground for the first time..and glad I survived the day for I really can not swim.......MerryChristmas to all.Littleman

  7. Littleman.........Apart from my head and arms I kinda glow in the dark myself. Most of my surfing is done in a wetsuit. I'm glad you got to got to experience a little bit of the thrill. When all the planets align and you get that perfect ride it can be .....well kinda hard to explain but orgasmic is the only word that comes close. You just want more and more.

Evel.... I'll be out there checking up on you, I've always wanted to witness a miracle!!:D:p

Oh, you're killing me. No white here, just wind and cold, I hate cold and not real fond of snow. The wife and I both would love to relocate to Ventura (we vacation there every chance we can), wish them property values would come down a tad!

Yes, a wetsuit thats what they had me put on..........I was in awe of the power of a wave, I was only lucky enough to ride a wave twice, but rode several failed attemps on the board on my belly..and only a handful of times really felt its true energy and power.......I left at the end of the day with much respect for all that engage in that sport.........it will kill you if you let it.....Since I was a non swimmer, it was kool that they hired a lifeguard and I was surrounded by great swimmers.........I was not born with gills as I told them...Jimmy Shine gave me a surfboard. I brought it home and suspended it from my daughters bedroom ceiling.......Littleman

Having moved up here to the frozen icebox that is known as Wisconsin from sunny Arkansas earlier this year....we received our first white Christmas in years...kiddies are lovin' it and I've already spent nearly an hour doing donuts out in the Kmart parking lot...despite being a little dizzy now, snow ain't all that bad.

  15. I've had snow cones before, those are pretty good!

  16. Merry Christmas Kev. Good to meet you in Huntington beach at the breakfast.

  17. Old Man's is right next to Sano (San Onofre) by the power plant.

Kev, There's noting like driving behind a salt truck dumping the very thing that rots out your car and loving it so you can stay on the road. I have seen snow as tall as the roof of my house several times. No one goes any where for days. I hate it but can't move becuse my business can't be moved.
Thanks again for hooking me up with the parts when no one else would!
