I bought an EZ off of ebay and i liked it ,almost foolproof to install .I have never used a painless so i can't say anything about them but for the price difference EZ wire would be hard to beat.

Freind of mine used a painless, it went in easy and works great....friend of mine used an EZ harness, it went in easy and works great..friend of mine used a rebel harness, went in easy and works great...PAinless-$400.....EZ wire-$180....Rebel -$180 and his a HAMBER! Use the REBEL, SUPPORT the HAMB guys.

  7. I used EZ in my Hudson. No complaints. I got it a few years back when all the wires were black, not color coded....

I bought an EZ mini but decided not to use it because the fuse block was real cheap. I sold it on ebay and bought the American Autowire Highway Series and I am very happy with that one. It seems to be very well made and easy to install with good instructions.

I have a Painless, they are good but it seems that they all leave it to you to figure out your gauge wiring and ground wires.

I voted EZ, based on price. Painless are nice, but I've only installed one or two. EZs I've installed several. Never a complaint.

Is the Rebel harness universal? I have a 60 F100 and a 74 Gremlin I'd like to wire up for the street

  15. you beat me to it !
Fantastic wiring harness and extremely nice guy and he supports the HAMB.
that being said, there should be no doubt whom you should buy from.
I bought glenns, my buddy bought painless for almost 2 times more $.
    end result.
I had to copy my info that the glenns kit came with and let him use it for his painless kit that has been anything but painless.

I have used the American Autowire 'Highway 22' set before (comes with the ignition switch and a few other pieces too), worked great (even though it had way more circuits than I needed) It has enough wire to put the fuse box anywhere between the bumpers (well, maybe not in a bus). It has the wires terminated (anything with a socket, like headlights for example) at the component end, and you hook it up at the fuse box (impressive connectors, you have to try one at a show to believe it).

I have been looking at the Rebel Wire stuff from Glenn33 for my next project. I haven't used them yet though.

I've used both and I think the Painless is a little better but not enough to warrent the extra cost so I been using EZ. I've never heard of Rebel till now but I'll try them on the next one.

Nexxusian, that American Auto Wire Highway 22 is really nice. They also do a Highway 14. Very pro. We use a lot of the Painless kits as well (universal). they're great quality and never a complaint.

Yeah, I wasn't sure which way we were going with the car and I figured it was easier to leave circuts out, than add them in.

I used painless they are very well built and easy to install. The others I have not used so I can not comment on those. The painless wire insulation is crosslink material so it withstands abraision and higher temps. I do not know what insulation EZ wire or the others use but make sure it is crosslink and not pvc. There was a few links on this subject awhile back, you might want to do a search on wiring.

I have installed all of them. Depending on where you want to mount your fuse block. All three mentioned are of good quality, easy to install and are fairly complete, depending on your application and accessory list. Your decision should be based on application for your car and ease of install. If you plan on doing it your self and want to save money, Use the Rebel. You will be satisfied with the results. If you plan on farming it out to some one with more experience then use what they are experienced with. It will go a lot smoother and you will get your car done sooner.(Voice of experience talking).

People ask me all the time, which do you prefer. But, my first question is" who will be installing it? Me or you? Most of the time they buy what is within there budget, start installing it and then I spend 500 phone calls trying to expain basic wiring principles to them. Sooner or later, I get the "Can you come over and take a look at it?" question.

Also, most companys will send you a copy of their installation instructions to pre-view. That is a big help in deciding which one to install. If you can follow the instruction that they send, pick which one you find the most complete and understandable. In the end, its your car and your decision.

I've installed 2 EZ Wire harnesses (1 mini 12 & 1 mini 21) in 51 Caddies without hassle or complaint.
I bought them off of epay because the were less $$$ & still factory backed. All questions were quickly & directly answered by the tech guy there. BTW they also own(?) Dolphin guages.

I've only used Painless. Wired 2 cars with them. Any problem I had was onlya phone call from help with their service department. It was in the instructions...I just overlooked it.

Done several vehicles, used mostly Painless stuff. Never had a problem with them. Bonus...made in Texas! Their 10308 kit is a nice bare bones kit for about $250. Done a couple of EZ wire installs..not impressed at all with the crimps at the fuse panel. No experience with the rebel kit (yet), but can't say i've heard anything bad.
