Well I decided to chop the old plymouth I ended up chopping the front 4" and took 5" out of the rear. Kinda funny story. I brought the car in to the garage to convert it to 12 volt and fix a broken manifold and ended up chopping the roof instead lol Here you go lots of pics enjoy. The before of the beast. Can you belive it the glass acutally came out?? Marked up to cut. First set of cuts. Cutting out the back window The slide Now a shot of my Ugly Mugg Now to move the center post back were it belongs. Now lay the glass down.
Now cut out the extra junk in the back and make a new panel. Alrigt in the home stretch redoing the window frames. There you have it now all I have to do is finish all the welding and add some mud will post more when I'm done.
Glass is all flat so not worries there. Have the front cut but broke one side putting it in lol oh well new glass it is. Have to get new vent windows cut anyway
Nice job,I think 4drs. look great chopped. That was alot of work but it looks like it will be worth it.
Hi, Before looking at the pics, I read only your subject line. My first impression was DON'T DO IT... But now that I see the results, I must say you have done a wonderful job. I have seen many cars on eBay over the years where someone started a project like this, and didn't carry it all the way through, so it is very refreshing to see that you finished out the posts, the C-pillar, etc. Yes, the glass will prove to be a challenge, but you have proven that you are up to the challenge. Congrats on a GREAT job. Give us some hints... What's next with the paint??? Primer would be OK, too... But, given the fantastic job you've done so far, I'm sure you're thinking big. Hat's off the new guy! Thanks for sharing.
very nice job indeed, I was thinking the same as others..Oh Noooooooo, but you handled it well and it looks fantastic!
Thanks everyone for now I think I'm just going to repaint the top for this year and next winter repaint the whole car.
Great job I have always wanted to chop a 49-50 more door and make a daily driver out of it....I am jealus ! Koolkemp
Good job. I am going to chop my 49 Ply 4-door, but couldn't figure out how to strech the top at the rear doors. Now I know. Thanks, and welcome to the H.A.M.B.
Hey, I think you cut my name out!! Lol.....I'll just have to re-sign it sometime at the Pony. The chop is looking great.....can't wait to see it in person once spring rolls around! Good job......
The Product so far little burned myself out on it need a break lol. Not to bad I think considering I started last Friday. I just have to get side glass and some new glass for the windshield. Other than that a little sanding and shot of some color or another on the roof.
This is a very good chop!Hats off to you for putting a roof line on that car!Perfection is what we are looking at here
I was scared by the title of the post, but plesantly surprised by the result. You nailed it, nice job. You make me feel like a slacker getting it, cut welded, mudded and in primer that quick. CBB
good job, in my opinion you took one of the most ugly stock rooflines and turned it into a nice one! now you need to get the rood signed again...
Nice job man. Good to know somebody that can chop a roof... Are you guys still meeting up every week? I never manage to find the time... Cheers, Tom
