Still digging for affordable, secure, and good parking arrangments. May have to suck it up and quit being cheap. What hotel have you gotten into? Do we have any discount arrangments yet or all those sold out?
There is lots of clean ,cheap motels off I-35 a few mile from Congress.Thats what i always seem to get .Hey ,remember me man?I am the one that ate the food you guys made at the Day of the drags on Friday night. The pork chops were good ...
Not sure, but hopefully Ryan's going to set up the Roundup forum under the Events section again so folks can post up their findings.
Places off of the main drag are cheaper...the La Quinta on Oltorf (only a few minutes away from the Continental) had rooms around $130. There are a couple Red Roof Inns on 35 that had rooms for about $90. We're staying at a Super 8 on the other side of 35 and it's pretty affordable. It's right off of Oltorf too, which is a straight shot to the top of Congress between the Trophy Club and the Continental. It mayb be 2 minutes farther away than the other places, but it's not a $150 hotel room either!
You mean tent camping? I looked into that a couple of years ago. Closest camping I found was McKinney Falls State Park I think was the name. Most campgrounds probably wouldn't appreciate some loud hot rods coming in late at night after the bars close.
If I remember correctly something was said last year about camping being available at the venue for this year. I'm sure Steve or one of the other Kontinentals will post all the details as soon as they are ironed out.
Stop being a baby. Sleep in your car, you'll fit fine. Just make sure both doors are opened. Heck, I'm gonna bring an extra piece of cardboard for sidewalk sleepin and break dancin!! Gotta make money for gas back home, right?
You breakdance on a piece of cardboard directly in front of the Continental Club on Friday or Saturday night at 10pm and I'll not only pass the hat for you but put a 10 spot in there myself. "Dance" routine must last for at least five minutes.
Obviously you've never seen my "Elephant riding an Ant" impression when I drive my car. My wife thinks I'm cheap. I like to think of it as being "fiscally responsible". Whatever lets me buy more beer.
I called today and made some reservations - I didn't get the rooms I wanted, but at least I got some rooms. This time last year I didn't have a problem at all - there is either a ton of people coming in for the show this year or there is something else going on in Austin, TX the same weekend. My advice, book your rooms NOW!
I just booked at the Super 8 on the other side of 35 more towards the airport. It doesn't seem like its too far from the action but hey what do I know, I'm from Jersey. With tax I spent $300 for 3 nights. I can almost swallow that.
Here's two things going on the same weekend. We got a room at the Embassy Suites on Congress a few days ago. Glad to know now that the Urban Musicfest is going on pretty much next door to the hotel. I'm sooooooooo looking forward to that!!!!! NOT!!!!!! http://www.roadwayevents.com/ http://www.urbanmusicfest.com/
Um.....that first one has dates of " March 1st & 2nd 2008" And that urban music festival goes to a website that is a year old with dates in june.....

I just booked some rooms at the super 8 in downtown /capital area for $55 a night plus tax. 512-472-8331. Thats for a room with a double bed . They still have rooms left but not many. TP
