  1. My hat is off to the guy that built this for his kid. Look at the pictures of him and his son and you have some idea what life is about. Amazing craftmanship, just figuring out where to make the cuts is mind boggling. Look at the work this guy accomplished, and then some people can only see the pants. I would like to shake the guys hand and also his sons, because they are quite a team. Taking some junk parts and together they made a unique and fun machine. By the time I got it done the kid would be 6 ft. tall.

Hehee.. The "Eight foot Dude" with short pants is me.. And the short guy with green shoes is the owner, my kid. The wife is seen behind the small car.

Took me about 500 hours in labour to make it. Planing took three times more.. But did that while i was at work so I never had to do any mods twice.. :D

I have had this posted here earlier too in The KidVRod buildup thread. ;)

All I can say it was a crazy project but much fun. :D Have to be abit insane to start one..

It all started as I promised my kid we would make him a soapbox racer.. I digged in the pile of crapmetal laying around behind the garage. And this is what it became.

Future plans is to find a boxer two bike or car engine and transmission to fit in it.

Clothes and shoes get almost as much attention,in this thread,as the cars.

    Why is that ?

I notice you did much of the bodywork in lead....and it looks great! I know it's for your son, and kids tear stuff up....but it seems like a shame to hide that nice work behind flat paint. Any plans for a glossy finish?

Flat paint is easy to repair when needed. ;)

I did all the traditional bodywork stuff on it just for practice. Perfect for that. No problem is some of the testwork would have failed. The lead work was interesting but pretty demanding. Needs a lot of patience to learn the correct flush amount, time for it and heat before and during leadfilling. Also how to shape it to avoid too much filing later.

Surprisingly though is that if you are carefull you can actually fill up more if you see you dont have enough in some lowspots as long as you have not filed off the flush around the area.

  15. Since you're in Finland,I would look for a snowmobil motor for it. Fab up a chain drive.

The thought have crossed my mind. As we have had so little snow so far this winter they might even be pretty cheap... :D

But on the other hand, I dont want the kid to kill himself with this either... :D

Truthfully the cars are very cool, I've been cutting up a 60 El Camino and have sliced it pretty hard but the mini Volksrod has really been cut-up, and I like that, about the pants, I Myself am sorry about jumping on the bandwagon but I find them funny, and around this time I need something to laff about as My son just had an operation at Childerns Hospital of L.A., of course I have no insurance so I'm pretty down about now, but the only thing that really matters is My Son is doing much better, so rock on and keep cutting.
