This thing is kind of ugly and I'm pretty sure the front has been redone over the years but I'm convinced that the bed was on a finished custom at some point. The dash has matching 70's paint. Any ideas?

I saw that on ebay too, it was going pretty cheap for a reason.

That bed matches the cab too well- I think it definitely all goes together. Could be saved with the right paint & wheels. Stance, seats and rolling stock are ruining right now. Biggest thing I would change to get it out of the '70's besides the stuff already mentioned would be the Cougar taillights. Would love to have a shot at making it presentable, the hard work is already done

Thats kind of what I though Jim. I bought it on Ebay for $900. Seemed aweful cheap for the extensive metal work, FULL set of nice Stewart Warner gauges, brand new tires, narrowed Ford 9 inch, and a what looks to be nice metal work. I think it's very savable but I'm betting it was finished once and then got worked on again.

It seems to be the unpopular thing to say on here about radical customs, but I kinda like it. Especially if it was done up in early 70's style.

    supposedly a 53-56 Ford...had a sbc in it though...
I think it could be cool. I've got a neat set of Edsel triple tail lights that I replaced the lenses with 59 caddy bullets. I think they would fit perfectly where the cougar tail lights are. I've got a few sets of 67-68 Cougar tail lights here anyway...might as well add to the collection. I think this thing could be neat. You couldn't begin to buy a rust free truck and chop it for this money and the other parts made it a no brainer to me. I just can't help but think this thing had some history somewhere in the 70's with that paint job

I like the front w/ the fenders tucked in ..I'm thinking a full horz. tube grill with the the headlights hidden...OR a whole lot of chrome drawer pull knobs...

Honestly, I don't have any plans at all. I bought it like I do most things...totally spontaneously. I bid on lots of stuff through AuctionSniper and then get surprised when I come home to see what I won. I really didn't expect to get it for that price. I'm on the road most of the next few months so everything else will have to wait till spring. I just felt like it needed to be saved and was curious what it was. It would be an awful lot of fun to play with. I really think a few fairly minor things could put it back on the right track and it be pretty unique. The lincoln 430 with a stick that would be fun but it's already setup for an economical sbc

I've seen that bed before, probably in show coverage in some 70's magazine. I don't remember the grill. It looks like you got the deal of the week on that one.
And if it isn't a historical custom, you can make it your own with your own mods and no one will whine.

I think the grill and chop are new but the cab, sectioned fenders and custom bed are original. I'm hoping the bed and paint are what someone will recognize...

    beside the grill, I'm thinkin

Fuckin sweet...twont take much work to un-fark the grill area either

  22. I actually like it. It looks angry. Paint's easy to fix,*****py metalwork a lot harder. $900 is a steal, there's more hours in labor in the chop than that. And all it would take to make it look more vintage traditonal is to swap the grille for some canted quads and your choice grille, and some sort of vintage taillights... '59 Bonneville would be right at home in there, or anything else oval or round from that era.

someone posted this on a ford truck site i and a couple others 'round here hang out on . i thought wtf !! . but one of the guys noticed in apic some shoddy frame mods that would definetley have to be attended too . maybe it's just too early but after sitting here and looking i'm begginning too change my mind 'bout it though . you're right some early custom mods could make it a lot more pallatable and interesting .......... hmmmmm is it still up on e bay ? the wife would kill me i gotz too many now ..........:)

I like the grill for the most part the top just needs to match the arch of the hood. Its not a 56, but still a cool truck.

  28. Stay ahead of the curve and restore it back to 70's street machine style. Candy root beer,***** carpet, diamond tufted black interior, Cragar S/S sticking past the fenderwells.. Those tucked under fenders say 70's to me, and they are already there.

That can be way cool again, I'd do it back to 70's style with some crazy paint scheme, candy colors.....Rework that grill if possible so it fits the opening better and follows the hood or do some 70's style rectangular lights (qaud) on an angle?? Make a hard cover to fill the bed opening and paint it the same or diamond tuffed fabric and match the interior to that...

If you haven't done so already maybe ask the seller about any history or who he bought the truck from and just following any leads from person to person....Chances are it didnt change that many hands over the years so getting back to the builder shouldn't be too hard...
