  4. Yeah, I remember, stuffed behind the seat of that coupe. It felt and sounded about the same to my young brain, but we were going left and right.:D

DragUns35 Bultaco's are the*****! If I had time and money I'd love to go find my dad's old Pursang (I know who bought it, still has it) and buy it back:D

Damn... that gave me goose bumps all over. I think without a doubt those guys are the most talented drivers of all motorsports.

That there looks awful familiar. Little faster than I'm accustomed to seeing it, of course, but the sound and the rhythm sure is the same. Makes you want to go make a mess and spend a bunch of money, don't it? :D

Yeah, be he didn't know it. ;) You can't see the front wheels from inside the*****pit of most (if not all) sprint cars. He's just taking his best guess at where they're at and running with it. Cast. Iron. Balls. At least with my cars you can see the left front tire (the rest is still guess and check, but one out of four is still better than zero).

Dirt racers are a special breed, that is for sure and for certain. I think that's why I like Ken Schrader and Tony Stewart so much. You're just as likely to find those dudes in a modified or a dirt late model as a Winston Cup Car. Hell, with Schrader you might even see him in both and a Cup car in the same weekend. :D

Just another day in the office... Excellent video. First time I went to Williams Grove for the Outlaws, my buddies told me I have to stand near the turn one fence for my initiation. I wasn't too worried until I saw people in those stands with full face helmets, chest protectors, face shields and gloves. Used to live near Devils Bowl back in the late 70's but never made it there for the races.

You gotta love open wheel, dirt track racing. Never got to drive one of the big cars but a buddy let me hot lap his mini sprint a couple times. About the same power to weight ratio. Great viv Kev!

My Dad used to race dirt track in the late sixtes well into the 70's. The stories he tells about that era for him was truely a highlight of his life. I remember spending my days as a kid in and around his cars and at the track.

During the hot laps he would let me sit in his lap and steer the car while he pedaled it. I thought i was the baddest MOFO around. I hope he see's this post and puts his 2 in. My dad Had balls the size of grapefruits to pilot those big ole 57 chevys around the track. I'll dig up some pics...

Thanks KIWI. I'll send this post to my pops....

  20. Shhh, nobody tell my mom about this. Dad pitted for Hank Albers in Bismark in 72-75. By this time he had quit driving, partially because of me and mom. He hotlapped Hanks car just like that one night. Johnny Fast has a pic of that car.........dad confided in me a couple years ago, 35+ years after the fact.

Nice! I remember going to the dirt tracks 25 years ago for the first time and seeing the first car go up and over the catch fence into the stands. Knocked a few people out of the way, didn't kill any one (fortunately) and made a lasting impression...

I was fortunate enough to drive a 410 wing car for 10 seasons, and it is by far the most intense and thrilling thing Ive ever done.It is true racing and Ive been hooked on it for life. See you at the Chili Bowl this week.

  26. I got to drive one for 25 laps a couple of years ago. I had mentioned somewhere in the past to my wife that driving a sprint car was something I wanted to do before I die and she stored that away and got me a beginners class at the Corey Cruseman sprint car driving school right here in Ventura for a 20 year wedding anniversary present. I couldn't drive it like the guy in that youtube vid but I wasn't embarresed when I watched my video. It was one of the highlights of my life and I can see how you can get addicted to it!
