I took a walk through a buddy's junkyard... Its been closed since the '70s although they are working on cleaning it up and getting back to selling parts again... maybe within the next year or so. Lots of 50's and 60's cars... some older and some newer No I will not give the location... I was asked not to as they are not selling anything currently. I took 66 pics and thats still not a 10th of whats there...
What do you mean by cleaning it up? Hope it is not the crusher being used as an agent of cleansing! Just open it up, and make tons of Money $.
Too bad most salvage yards around here are crushing everything pre 80 now. I am older now but still enjoy browsing old yards....too bad most will let the metal rot into the ground or sell for scrap rather than sell to a rodder. Nice pics of some cool salvageable cars.
Crushing many cars from the 80's up by the road to make room to bring the old metal out of the woods....
YES! YES! Crushing the newer plastic/metal mix cars! This does sound like it is going to be a great salvage yard when it is re-opened. John
Great pics. Thanks for posting them instead of a link to a photo album that usually is a dead end. Neat yard too. Good to know they're saving the good stuff and putting it back up for sale. Be sure to post when they're ready to reopen and a location so we can buy stuff from there. Looks like some good tri-5 stuff in there amongst the treasures.
I grew up in Herrin, IL..... i think i Know where this IS..... dont worry man i aint gonna spill the beans..... i would like to get a PM when something does become available....
dibs on the 28-29 A in the first pic.....that 42 Ford vert is prolly worth enough if there is anything left of it.
I have my eye on the black 56 GMC buried in the ceder tree.. its more complete I think so but it was crunched pretty good in the front end will do. The "A" is up by the front gate.... he's had some large offers on it... He really wants to become a legitimate yard before he starts selling again...
thanks for taking the time to post these neat pics! they are still out there, but hopefully these cars will soon get in the hands of guys who will actually do something with them.
saw a very rare 56 4dr hdtp in there could'nt tell if it was a bel-air or 210 . wow what i would give to find a place like that ..
Looks like a 47ish Mercury to me. I agree though, if all the convertible stuff is there, it should be worth some $ to someone, transfer all that stuff onto a coupe shell with good floors.
A friggen Marlin ! That Morris Minor looks nice too. Looks like there is a wide assortment of good stuff in there. Im droolin over those tri-fives.......
Gray car in the lower right looks small - Goggomobil sedan? If so, I'm interested. Were there any Cadillac procars there lurking about? Thank you very much for taking the time to post these. Your time is appreciated.
Don't see a lot of Mopars out there. -- I guess all that's left of em is the reddish brown stuff on the ground. There is a '62 New Yorker out there and what looks like two different '68-70 Charger sail panels in those pics...
Cool pics. I call dibs on the 55 hudson 2-door hardtop... I could also use the front turn signals on the Buick in the last set of photos...the one on the truck bed.
