A friend of mine had his 68 GTO Convertible stolen from a storage facility in Little Elm Tx. If anyone sees one for sale let me know so I can forward the info to him. It was ready for the engine to be installed. It has a powder coated frame with all new brakes, lines, and the Body had all the metalwork and painted red. It has a new top, but was not installed. he has all the interior in his garage so it was not with the car. The car was placed in storage in Oct, so not sure when it was stolen. If you have seen or heard about one for sale in the last 3 months it could be this car. I doubt he will find it but maybe someone has seen it. Thanks for any help Jim

Don't know for sure, the owner did not know where the guy restoring it had it. When he went to get it to put the motor in Tuesday he found it gone. Jim

    Thanks Tony
I only met the owner Tuesday but since he is military thought I would try and help. Mark Artis knows a lot more about the car than I. If anyone hears of anything they can contact Mark @ Texas Thunder Performance. Thanks Jim

Scum bags! I feel for him. I have a '64 & I'd be sick if I came home & it was missing! I'll spread the word. I have several buddies in the Little Elm/Aubrey area.

    You guys NEED Walker!

Hope he gets it back man, that sounds like a rare one and probably has a bunch of sweat equity in it.

I have to agree that it either sounds like an inside job or some piece of shit that hangs out or around the shop where the car was being restored and knew exactly where it was stored ? Put a post on every damn hotrod site you can think of , in auto trader , on ebay ,Hemmings , etc, etc , and offer a reward because pieces of shit that steal cars hang around with other pieces of shit that will sing like crazy for a buck ! I hunt for cars all over Texas and the U.S. for customers so you can bet I will keep my ears open and eyes peeled and would like some pics sent to my email address as well . Sooner or later that car will pop up and I'll bet they don't know where every I.D. number is stamped on that car from the GM plant ! Be suprized what thieving pieces of shit don't know about ID stamps , there's a BUNCH and not easily found ! Get as much info to the Pontiac guys out there as quick as you can so these bastrads can do time !

CamaroKid, I was thinking along the same lines, sounds like a close to home kind of job. Thieves suck!

NO ONE randomly breaks into storage units and takes things as large as a car without a fair amount of planning, and knowing it is there to begin with. this reeks of "inside job".

Guys, thanks for all the replies. I'm the guy that was restoring this car.
You are all correct in that this was done by somebody that knows me.
I thought I had a real good Idea who did it, but it appears I may have been too hasty, as nothing has come of it. ( but can you really count on cops?)
This car was locked-up, ON JACKSTANDS, for chrissakes! no steering
    column, no wheels...
I f anybody has ANY leads or clues, please contact me ASAP. anonymous if necessary. I just want the car back. no questions asked.

JIM: thanks so much for posting this up. Very kind gesture!

still nothing?..dam..I would be looking into your suspects as much as you can on your own..maybe get some friends involved looking into a few nooks and crannies..sorrage units? garages? backyards under cover? maybe its in parts already..if it was broken down for resoration it would be a very easy target for the parts. Heres an idea..contract some people to look for parts specific to that model car. see if you can buy some it back and nab the ass selling the parts..he might squeal on the Perp. check e-bay too

Good news on this one. This car was recovered last night by the Collin County Sheriffs Dept. Apparently it was untouched. Don't know all of the details yet, but I heard the guy that owned the storage facility decided to call a junkyard and have them come out and haul off all of the "old' items stored there. The car changed hands a couple of times before someone from a message board saw the car at a paint and body shop in Princeton. The guy building the car was alerted via email and was able to find it there.

I don't think I would be wanting to use that storage facility any time soon if I lived in that area.

  21. I'm very glad to hear this, but the guy called a junkyard to haul it off and they did it no questions asked? It still smells fishy!

In most cases they dont haul anything off unless the monthly bill wasnt payed. After a few months (in thier contract is a time frame) they can haul ,sell or auction ...
    Dave

oh ya if the guy did it to make money and fuck the owner over then he should have charges filed on him..

Is there an easy way (somewhere online) to check to see if an old stolen car has ever been registered using the same vin number? Maybe there's a slim chance I could find a car stolen from me in the early 90's.
