Thats some wild rearend set up there, never woulda thought of that solution, but I'd use BIG chain instead of the belts, seems they'd shear off the belts teeth at the hit of the throttle. maybe not though???

Don't those guys that make wheelie cars have a special transfer case for doing what is shown in those illustrations ?

Ok I have a dumb question but my curiosity is running wild with ideas. What would the pinion angle on the 4x4 set-up be and am I correct in assuming you would have to run multiple (ie mid or front) and rear motor plates to keep the clearance issues from becoming catastrophic due to torsional flex? This is the idea a friend of mine got me hooked on with the advent of the HA/GR. I got lots o' ideas but still getting skill.

This is sweeeet!!! I hope you get it done for the Rock & Race...
You can always use a 4 door sedan body to gain some room.
Toby from Dragway 42 might be able to help you out with a v drive. He has built dozens of wheelstanders. I know he built and raced one called Night Rider. It was a Camaro body and he sat just about where the dash is. I think it would be a similar set up for what your doing.

    Check out this crazy Finn...

First he put a blown Toronado Big Block with NOS into the trunk of european Ford wagon. Not cool enough, swapped the driveline into a Chech Skoda. Not fast (?) enough, built a trike around the motor.... :D

    Dave,
I'm sure that our own Don Garlits has explored most every option for doing what your continplating. Why not drop him an email with some pictures, you may be surprised as to what he has in his shop.
If you have ever had the pleasure to tour his museum, and his shop, you then have seen many ways to transfer power.....some will work, some do not.
I get where you are going with this, as I to march to the same twisted drummer.

    this is grrrrrrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttt!

  16. I love the cadence story.

This is like the car, I can't for the life of me remember his name, with two '40 Ford hoods made into the nose. Jack Chrisman?

  17. The Chrisman Bros built the 30 coupe you are thinking about, Art and Lloyd.
It also sported the first set of Moon spun disc's, it also originally ran a Merc flathead before the Hemi found its way in there.
Imagine ripping along the salt a 200mph with your nose inches from the windscreen!

Man that car does all sorts of good things to my wiggly bits!

When you described the project this is what I thought of. The 40 Ford windshield might give you a little more "headroom" :D

Having it built with that ratio only or are you triple sticking it (IIRC thats how they are. I use a Spicer 18 myself...) I'd be worried about the wear and tear going on inside of it, but ATLAS is renowned for their cases so who knows.

From what the people @ Atlas have told me, they said if I kept it shifted into 4wd high it will be 1:1 ratio.......I described how I wanted to use their peice......and all I got was some awkward silence....and a well yes I guess you can use it to do that.......I am not no 4wd guy at all, the closest I ever got was putting a Military Hum. to the test..awsome vehicles not the street versions.............I am reading up on all the rock crawler, v-drive drag boats and sand buggies configurations........And what I have learned they are doing some kool stuff...Littleman

Awsome drawing ChopperMark!!!!.Thanks for doing that........we are kinda thinking the same. I have been thinking all along that I must do the 40 ford hood front end and a very similiar window treatment for it cheats for more head room and compliments the nose treatment, I also have something planned for the roof.....Thanks again ,Littleman

Littleman: you should tell me what you have in mind for the roof. I would love to bust a out rendering or two. PM me with any ideas you have. I haven't drawn anything in a long time and this project is inspiring.

Death's Doorstep is a crazy car too, but what I love most is the story about the dedication to your step-dad.
