spent the day helping my neighbor behind me ,
she fell of a cliff hunting ?
never ask`s for help but came to the fence with two black eyes and on pain killers :)
asking me if I new how to make her water valve work after they replaced her meter it was striped out she was down there whacked out on happy pills with vise grips and just could not make any thing happen ?
so after several trips for tools and parts I fixed it .
wasted the whole dam day !
when she tried to pay me I gave her a hug and said you already have by being such a great neighbor.

Awww, how sweet of you. :D :p Seems like we are helping neighbors fix water (well) woes here a few times a year. It's nice to have good neighbors.

    YES he does!!!
I live on a corner, and I actually bought my house from the CITY of SPOKANE!!! Turns out the CITY owned it because they "siezed" it from my neighbor!!!!!! So ANYBODY who moved in would of had problems, IT just happened to be M E !!!! He has turned me in as a "chop shop", "partier", "junk-yard", car parked in the front of MY OWN HOUSE, and got a tow-away notice on 2 cars licesned AND insured!!! So needless to say WE hate each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when I was a kid growing up, I would fill my parents' garage and driveway with various cars/projects (love ya mom and dad!)

I had a neighbor across the alley that was always on my case for making noise and lowering his property value (I can see his case now that I'm a little older)

I also had a neighbor up the street that was cool as the other side of the pillow and LOVED my loud hot rods! He was an old school rodder to the core... We would sit and talk hot rods for days. He gave me my oxy/acc setup that I still use to this day!

But back to the neighbor that hated me... his wife came over to complain (VERY kindly, she was a sweet old woman) that the exhaust fumes from my recently fired project were bothering her husband's emphysema. I kindly apologized and made it a point to not blow exhaust at their house thereafter.

He died shortly after one of my later cars was completed... I hope it wasn't my fault! hehehe

When I bought 2 1/2 acres and built my house 12 years ago, I planted 1200 trees and shrubs. I've got stuff stashed everywhere and no one can see it. I have a long curved driveway so the garage can't even be seen from the street. The garage is built from one foot thick styrofoam blocke (with contrete and rebar in them) so very little noise escapes. Two years ago I built a garage in the back yard and the neighbors on either side of me didn't even notice. Almost no one in the neighborhood knows where the old cars driving around come from. I'm kind of a stealth hot rodder. It works good for me.

I feel sorry for you american guys who have to put up with some group of PC people telling you what you can and cant do in your property well wheres the freedom in that , I am all for being polite and friendly to your neighbors but I mean if you own the property whats wrong with working on your car in the driveway or making a bit of noise . I am 19 and live in a little one way street with my brother and dad , ill be honest we dont have the flashest property in the street and I have a fair bit of v8 parts laying around and an old car im fixing up out front that im going to use to learn to drive in and as a dailly driver . Nobody complains , don't have to worry about noise either during the day you can make as much noise as you want until the noise restriction kick in at about 10:30 at night though its allways best to respect the neighbors and try not to make too much noise .

I have great neighbors, both sides are musicians, so they're constantly making racket like we are, but the ones behind us are another story..
My sister brought her 1965 Ford Falcon down, while my brother was recording a punk album. They got so fed up they called the fire department on us!
They said we were interrupting their "Retarded Bible Studies for Children Weekly Meeting." and were making devil music with these terrible tin cans in our driveway..

Those of you who do not give a damn about your neighbors are missing a lot. The first thing I do when moving into a new neighborhood is to go to every house I can see from mine and introduce myself. I am 70 years old and still have many friends from the nine neighborhoods I've lived in. I have had only one person that I could never get along with but her husband was always sneeking over to my garage to have a beer and see what I was working on. He could not get along with her eather. It's a damn shame more people do not spend a little of that hate to learn who there neighbors really are. I could go on about this all day but know it would do no good as those of you who think no one counts in this world but your self are still going to do so. RESPECT YOUR NEIGHBOR AND YOU WILL RECIEVE RESPECT FROM THEM.

No. The guy to the side of me is a retired rigger/mechanic. Another down the street used to drag race in the 60's & 70's before he got outspent by big money. Both good guys and we help each other out when we can.

There is another though that I've threatened to call the police on - his kids were shooting fireworks late at night during the week.

My nieghbors love me! The one right next to us comes over for beer, and christmas and all kinds of stuff, and he lets me store crap on his property, I have 2 cars and 13 tractors in his field now:D. The next one brings us water for the holding tank, and he shoots the shit with me when I'm workin' on my A, or one of the trucks. He tells me about stock car racin' "back in the day". The other neighbor is a pilot and is hardly ever home. But I built the 426 Hemi that's in his muddin' truck.

My neighbors are great. I worry more about the indie movies I shoot on the weekends or band practice. One of them came straight out and asked if we were shooting porn one weekend more out of curiosity than disapproval!

Now the suburban Cali Borg have moved in across the street and I'll see how long my weekends of having film crews/ band members crawling all over my house will last:(

I cant complain,I bought the worst house in the best neighborhood that i could 11 years ago.I live on a small waterfront community,so everyone owns a boat. The housing market exploded after i bought so the class of people who moved in were pretty well off.I paid 138k for my house and i feel its alot of money, now there are 3 mill homes up the block. So when a person who does everything himself lives across the street you are looked down upon.I got one complaint after tuning a big harley motor i just built on a saturday afternoon. The guy was a school teacher and had a hangover from the nite before. At 12 on a sat all things are fair game.So he said his peace and i said mine.Fast foward 6 months to a winter storm, his pipes froze and were cracking as you stood there.11 pm he calls me because noone would come untill the next day.I worked untill 3 am to fix his heat and went home empty handed by chioce. Now we are best of neighbors. My home is not the nicest but it is well kept and ther are (in my book at least) some cool stuff to look at.I have 1 acre of land (alot in this area)with a cool cemetery style fence around it that i had built.I get compliments from people i have nevr met in the store,They know me when they pass my house (i live on a corner) when they go home.So we all tollirate our little qurks and get allong real well.I throw a big clam bake every year with the stuff we catch, all are invited so noone is left out.

Our neighbors like us... We try to keep the major noise confined to the daylight hours nad if they do complain it's usually cause we're making a stupid ammount of noise late at night but even then they're usually pretty cool...neighbor drama sucks cause at the end of the day you still have to live next to them.

That's one reason I moved out to the boonies - I don't know how my neighbors might feel about me, but I hate people in general so we keep our fences high, literally and figuratively.
Now that I live on a house that can't be seen from the road in official "redneck country" I'm actually the "quiet" neighbor, go figure.
Maybe it was the way I was brought up, but if I have something really LOUD to do, I usually try to be considerate and do it at reasonable hours in the vain sunconcious hope that they would do me the same courtesy ... fuck it, life's too short to worry about things like that.
I can't imagine how much it must suck for you dudes who have nosy pricks calling the city on you to clean up your yard. That would send me through the roof.
