Looks like even Chevy is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the 32 Ford. (Yeah, I know that was last year.) This is from the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Jan. 12: Chevrolet E85 Hot Rod concept is introduced at GM Style event in Detroit.
All old cars look the same to you? I see nothing remotely resembling a '32 Ford, buy see all the characteristics of a customized '33/'34 Chevy 3-Window coupe. Remember, not all rods are black primer with red wheels and bullet adornments.
I knew that was coming when I wrote it. Whatever. What do you think the general public sees when we just had an entire year of celebrating the Deuce? It just looks like Chevy jumping on the bandwagon.
DtroitDinosaur Seeming like this is going to be a rant, maybe you should get your act together, ford was n't the only company the could have been celebrating its 75th.
If the grille on that isn't intentionally 32-Ford influenced, someone shoulda shown the designer of it a pic of a deuce before they built the car. I think thats what the OP was getting at.
Okay, maybe I should have been more clear about what I was thinking in my OP. I wasnt commenting on the specific design details of the chevy at the auto show. This wasn't intended to be a rant. In fact I was kind if chuckling about it when I posted. Being that the deuce is the quintessential "Hot-Rod" and for the last year it was celebrated all over the world, when the average Joe sees a fenderless "hot-rod" the first thing they are going to think is "Hey, isn't it the anniversary of the 32 Ford?" When I saw this I thought chevy's timing was funny. That thing looks as much like a deuce as the Prowler did. Did no one ever hear "Prowler" and "Ford" in the same sentence? I did. In fact I'm happy someone at the big three has their eye on the hot rod world. Hope that clears up what I was thinking. Flame on boys.
No it doesn't. How long you been into cars- say 8 months and then it would make more sense. I used to own a Ford Prowler- it hauled ass!
Fuck all you guys.. .. Fuck the intentions of the post too.. I like it.. Look close at the body lines and shit.. Kinda brings back the purple chevy coupe that now correct me if im wrong (and you will) pc3 did a number of years ago???? Man i loved that car. Dave
I see what your saying, but I don't think GM was thinking about the '32 Ford, when thay built this car. My thought is that GM was trying to use the popularity of the traditonal hot rod/rat rod/greaser movement as a marketing vehicle for their Ethanol program. Any thing else is purely imagined or coincidence.
didn't chevy make a car in 1932? maybe they might have celebrated 75th with that then? or maybe now in '08, they are celebrating a '33 as it marks it's 75th year.....
