Sold my porsche to buy a 35 ford. Did I do the right thing?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by irondoctor, Jan 13, 2008.

  1. The way I look at it is, that you did consider buying/trading for another car, rather than keeping the 356 means to me that you were not necessarily satisfied with the 356???

It's your money & car to do with it as you want.

If you had a 550 would you ask the same question.

I need to see pics of both cars to make an honest decision. I'd rather have a '36 than a '35 anyday. Post some pics, everyone is asking to see them.

Not ot be a dick... But you did it, and now there isn't much you can do about it. Either put your heart and soul into the 35' or sell it to buy another Porsche...

Good luck what ever you decide. Look on the bright side man, many of us on here can't afford to ever own either one of those cars.

    Buck up little camper;)

You're not putting this on your wife, are ya? When people start seeing and commenting on how cool your 35 is, I hope she gets some credit.

The opposite could also be argued.......when I see a really nice traditional car, I say "now there's a rich dude that had his car pro built"......look at the award winners, all pro built and cost WAY more than most Porsches.....
People who talk of Porsche's as overrated VW's are ignorant of the HISTORY of the marque........

The '35 Ford woulda have to be a 3W or roadster for me to trade away a '59 Porsche......and even then, the old Ford would have to be SUPER nice.....

No tears over spilled milk, man! Move on! Besides, is it as hard to get parts for an old Porsche as I think it is? Yea, have fun with something that is just as cool and easier to play with.

What the hell is a Porsche?

If someone GAVE me whatever the coolest Porsche is, I'd sell it.

And for you two having the argument, in this case it would be Deutsche-bag.

Were you comfortable around Porsche people? Getting them to part with their money and getting a great Made in USA vehicle is a GREAT thing! Nothing wrong with now owning an attractive automobile.

the porsche is obviously pretty sick, but the lines on a 35 ford are just amazing.

i think you made a good descision, plus you can buy knockoffs for like 17k in reno? im sure theres others for cheaper.

  23. I got sick of all the cats with driving gloves telling me all the things that were wrong with my Porsche, then speeding away with their whale tails wagg'in in the wind.

If you catch a Hot Rodder acting that way, check his fingernails
If they are dirty, ask him to help you fix it.
If they are clean--poke him in the chops

(man I almost had a rant, I better get to my shrink )

    Wrong.

Ferdinand Porsche developed the Volkswagen or "people's car" for Adolf Hitler to help further expand the reign of Nazism. After the war, he then started building a vehicle (the 356 Porsche) that shared the rear engine, horizontally opposed cylinder configuration, air cooling and bug-eyes of that same car (A VOLKSWAGEN IN HEAT). What a great historical pedigree, spawned in the ideology and practice of the Nazis:rolleyes:.

I don't like 'em... no soul.

...merely a shiny dick with 2 seats and oversized motorcycle engine in the back.

Since you went down THAT road, do you know how many big US companies were involved with the Nazi party before and DURING WWII???? And it was voluntary......

Nope.....You make it sound as if Porsche himself was for the expansion......he wasn't........he just wanted to design. Porsche wasn't a car manufacturer, it was a design firm....
Read up on the history of Porsche himself......from the beginning, even if you don't like him, it's really interesting stuff for any car guy.....

Sounds like you haven't bought a '35/35 yet. Right?

What did you get out of the Porsche?

I'll do that at your request...

  29. I don't know what an old Porsche is worth, but I'd have thought you could get several old Fords. That would have been even cooler.

I hate to say it, but I agree with the quote above. Porsche guys can be real douche-bags, and hanging out with them would be pretty low on my priority list (not that hot-rodders can't be douche-bags).
