Not a car movie, but still a great quote. This probably turned on most car guys :D

D.A. Jim Trotter: Now, uh, Ms. Vito, being an expert on general automotive knowledge, can you tell me... what would the correct ignition timing be on a 1955 Bel Air Chevrolet, with a 327 cubic-inch engine and a four-barrel carburetor?
Mona Lisa Vito: It's a bullshit question.
D.A. Jim Trotter: Does that mean that you can't answer it?
Mona Lisa Vito: It's a bullshit question, it's impossible to answer.
D.A. Jim Trotter: Impossible because you don't know the answer!
Mona Lisa Vito: Nobody could answer that question!
D.A. Jim Trotter: Your Honor, I move to disqualify Ms. Vito as a "expert witness"!
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Can you answer the question?
Mona Lisa Vito: No, it is a trick question!
Judge Chamberlain Haller: Why is it a trick question?
Vinny Gambini: [to Bill] Watch this.
Mona Lisa Vito: 'Cause Chevy didn't make a 327 in '55, the 327 didn't come out till '62. And it wasn't offered in the Bel Air with a four-barrel carb till '64. However, in 1964, the correct ignition timing would be four degrees before top-dead-center.
D.A. Jim Trotter: Well... um... she's acceptable, Your Honor.

Marisa Tomei in "My cousin Vinny"

  4. I never checked up on the My Cousin Vinnie quote; is that correct, 4 degrees?

Joe Dirt:Well today I'm gonna be picking up my Hemi Roadrunner that's right I said Hemi
Jill: Wow. A Hemi. Balls to the Wall.
Joe Dirt: Yep, left it at a friends house
    [under his breath]
Joe Dirt: actually it got towed away two years ago
    [loud again]
Joe Dirt: but I'm picking it up this afternoon. I might need a pretty little lady to sit in the front seat while I break her in. The car I mean. So what do you say.
    Jill: That's a big ten-four.

    :)

Someone else mentioned Running on Empty (Australia 1982)
The scene mentioned was this one.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HstGbG_ahq8&feature=related

    Here is my favorite scene.

Old man: Hey Man - What color is she ?
    Mike: What ?
Old Man: the heap the chariot, i like to dig the hue.
Vinnie under his breathe: hey the bastard is blind.
    Mike: It's green...
    Old man: Green...
Old man under his breathe and very sarcastically: green is nice.

This movie is FULL of gems, I will have a copy soon and should be able to post some more clips.
There is another old Aussie flick called Midnight Spares that is killer funny too.
Also not cars but motorbikes is 'Stone" a film which pre-dates Mad Max by many years and has many similarities.

    From it
'Keep your spanners off our wenches'

  9. Oh my.....

    Sorry to be picky.....But....

    Jake: What's this?
    Elwood: What?
Jake: This car. This stupid car! Where's the Cadillac?
    [Elwood doesn't answer]
Jake: The Caddy! Where's the Caddy?
    Elwood: The what?
Jake: The Cadillac we used to have. The Bluesmobile!
    Elwood: I traded it.
Jake: You traded the Bluesmobile for this?
    Elwood: No, for a microphone.
    Jake: A microphone?
    [pause]
Jake: Okay I can see that. What the hell is this?
Elwood: This was a bargain. I picked it up at the Mount Prospect city police auction last spring. It's an old Mount Prospect police car. They were practically giving 'em away.
Jake: Well thank you, pal. The day I get outta prison, my own brother picks me up in a *police* car!

Alright, I gotta throw a few in :

If you haven't seen Jackie Gleason do this one lately, yer missin out! His facial expressions throughout that whole movie make me crack up every time.

Buford T. Justice riding down the road with Junior recalling Frog running out of the church : "I can still see her runnin down the aisle... tits bobblin all ova." - Smokey and the Bandit

Doc Brown explaining to Marty that the next few minutes oughta be rather interesting : "When this baby hits 88 miles an hour... yer gonna see some serious shit." - Back to the Future

OK, from the Gumball Rally when the sherrif is on the bridge trying to catch the rally cars who found out he was there and drive by at the speed limit. He looks to the heavens and says "Oh god, why me?" and a voice from above answers "Because you're an asshole Rosco"

And not car related but still about the funniest movie ever made:

"Yea, but you see, this one goes to 11 so it's one louder"

glad to see so many people are into these movies!

I think you forgot the crazy girl on top of the Corvette in Hot Rods to Hell - Run em Off the Road DUKE - RUN EM OFF THE ROAD!!!!!!!!

then the chick throws that beer can at the kid -

    the kids response:
All girls are NUTS - she coulda knocked my brains out!

and in Hot Rod Gang - (when talking about girls) the guy responds - "actually, I prefer a hopped up motor"

and I was glad to see someone nailed the King of the Mountain line early on - Speed is Time Time is Speed - that is just the best

and the Wild Angels Fonda lines - We wanna ride! etc

    good stuff

and although it is not an actual line from a film - I love the final showdown scene in Hot Rod - Rebel on the Road

the guys shift about 7 times going down the track - too funny

dont forget the Hot Rod Gang scene where the 2 guys are curb racing - lets see that on some Mad Fabricators!!!!

and the classic scene in Dragstrip Girl where the guy straddles 2 cars - brilliant stuff

Some 80's movie... can't remember the name but I think Charlie Sheen was in it as a professional car thief. As he races away in a 911 he just stole the car phone rings:
"Hello? ... No, Mike's not here... Who am I?... I'm the guy stealin' Mike's car!"

Smokey and the Bandit: Snowman to his dog:
Hold on to ya ass Fred!

From "Deathproof" referring to the Nova with the Skull on the hood...

Stuntman Mike: Do I frighten you?
    [Arlene silently nods yes]
Stuntman Mike: Is it my scar?
    Arlene: It's your car.
Stuntman Mike: Ahhh, yeah, I know. Sorry. It's my mom's car

  26. My favorite car line is not from a car movie but its good anyways.

This is where mechanical excellence and one-thousand four-hundred horsepower pays off - Mr. Eddy ,Lost Highway

The line right after that is funny
Six fuckin' car lengths! That's a hundred and six fuckin' feet, mister! If I had to stop suddenly, you woulda hit me! I want you to get a fuckin' driver's manual, and I want you to study that motherfucker! And I want you to obey the the goddamn rules! Fifty-fuckin' thousand people were killed on the highway last year 'cause of fuckin' assholes like you! Tell me you're gonna get a manual! - Mr. Eddy

I don't believe this line has been quoted(from AG):

When Kurt is sitting on the hood of Gil's car... Joe, The Pharaoh, queries with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth:

    "What are you doing creep?"
