Diary of a Model T build

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Psycho Deville, Dec 30, 2007.

  1. I have begun the process of building a 27 T roadster with the help of good friends.

    Day 1:
Not that exciting to some right now but good to see things come together.
The subrails on drivers side were bad so here you can see where it was being patched and fitted..My buddy Jared, Hamb member Angry Frenchman, from the Alter Boys CC was slinging the beads.. ( damn fine job!! )

While that was going on .. lots of measurements torching and grinding on the 32 Chevy rails .. didn't get pics of the model A crossmember fab that was done .. but this will give the general idea.

  2. Day 2
Seems not much was done but alot of t******* the fat had to get done. Today i cut the remains off the rails.. there was alot of **** on there from the chevy that was sitting on them.... After cutting and grinding boxed up the cuts

Here is some of the stuff that was cut off.. there was plenty more..
Here is the crossmember that was cut and pluged to fit in the notched rails.

  3. Camera ran out of batteries rather eary but got a couple shots off. Cross member is bolted in so it can pivot to correct degree. Back up on rails for more measurements. cleaned up Model A front cross-member and other rar quarter was put on. Next step will be to pinch the rails then install front cross- memeber and move horns bout 9'' back. ( and buy new batteries.. )

  15. We were curious to see how it was being that it was a virgin motor pulled from a truck.. took the heads off turned it and we all went.. ewwww.. nothing but beer ****s come to mind.. we were pretty positive that it would have a 4'' crank but no **** luck, 3 3/4

This motor was just for mock up.. Did not use this motor, put in a '50 P/U 8BA Flathead

Somebody on this board added safety straps that went over the spring and bolted to the spreader. It looked like a good idea to me.

Sunday i got the Lincoln Zephyr brakes.. pretty happy about the condition of them. I tried to fit square spindles, round spindles even 32-34 spindles.. no such luck.. im going to put another thread out there asking if anyone has done this.. but here are some shots of what we got..

Best looking fit was round spindles with some modifying. But had issues with the king pin.

damn dude, you are rolling on this thing. you'll be driving it by the time we get up there to visit ya.

  28. Man its going pretty damn fast.. but not fast as in throw together.. everything is correct.

  29. Couple pictures from last night.. Ill be fooling around with the lincoln brakes to get it spot on .. but for now we ust put some throw-on tires and spindles and its starting to take a wicked form.. Body will be moved bout 1'' in the back.. tires will be 750/16 rear 650/16 front.. but for now you can get a idea of the direction.
