Do you guys remember "The Lost Boys"? I was probably in the 4th or 5th grade when the movie came out... Any way, that was also the first time I'd seen a '57 Ford and I fell in love with it right away. Especially because I thought it was so cool that it had a retractable top. Here is a video from youtube with the car in it.

My all time favorite car is the '57 Ford any model 2 door, 4 door, top of the line to the bottom. I got my very first drivers license in my sister's '57 Fairlane 500 that was in 1961. To this day I've never owned a '57 Ford so if someone wants to trade for a nice '63 Thunderbird let me know. A wagon would be cool but I'd take any model.

In 1964, I was 13 and spotted the first car I wanted in a bad way: A $50 57 retractable. Brush painted sky blue, bondoed rockers, and the motor smoked real bad just idling. Dad said no, despite my constant weekly begging.

    I'd like one now, or a 2dr wagon red/white...

I remember the blue one from Hot Rod in the early 90's/late 80's. It was one of the first cars I thought of when I read this post. Total sleeper! Glad to see it is still around and in the same shape.

I have seen and heard the blue 57 ... It belongs to a guy I know named Jerry Mason. He has a Hot Rod parts shop here in South Carolina. He worked for Bud Moore the Nascar Ford racer back in the ole days.

    Neat car ...

Here is my 57 almost finished. I felt challenged to do a 57 Ford because I'd never seen one I really liked and I wanted to see if I could make one look good; and I am bored with Chevrolet. Now that I am almost finished, I am actually enjoying the appearance of this car more than anything else I have owned. The car will have a 300 rear bumper and more offset on the rear wheels, which really makes the car. The motor is 542 CI with lots of little tricks. For me, this car was a gamble--but I am pleased.

They make the nicest G***ers. Growing up in San Francisco in the mid 60's, my brother and I had a babysitter that had a green 57 w/straight axle, 312 w/dueces, 4sp, black tuck & roll and big *** lift bars. My parents went out one night and the three of us cruised Brotherhood, Alemany.... all the spots, I'll never forget that.
I stole these pics from the WWW.

Damn, your car rules! I think it'll look great with the Custom bumper, instead of the bulky Fairlane one. Any engine pics? Is it an FE based engine or 385 series 460 based?

I can't find it, but some where around here I have a pic of a 300 that I took from the back of a duece & a half on the Saigon highway back in '69.

I love these cars, been messing with them since about `96 or so. My last one was built as a fast street car, never raced much, but it was fairly quick. It did 11.30's in the 1/4 at 121. I always ran it through the mufflers on pump gas. I had an old worn out set of MT ET Drags, never would hook on them. The `57 had a 351W stroked to 427, had TFS HiPorts, custom 1 3/4 headers, Super Victor and 850 Demon. At first it had a Tremec TKO in it, but when I killed the clutch, I sold it and put in a PA C4 trans with manual reverse valve body and 4800 stall convertor. It ran great, but kinda ****ed on the freeway with 4.11 gears. I sold the car in `06, and now have another to start on. It will be mini-tubbed for 12 inches of rubber, and will have a twin turbocharged 351 Cleveland and 4 speed. I plan to get this one into the 10s, on pump gas, and driving to and from the track. We'll see how it plays out.. Here is my last `57..

Not much really, I had a one piece fibergl*** front end made for it and I scored a pair of crazy fenderwell headers for the 500 Caddy that will end up in it.

Does anyone have more pics or info on this one ? I really like the deep dark green and sage paint. I'm not sure where I got the pic. I think it was on the net while I was surfing for something else.

That's mine. Funny you mentioned her, that car in that issue is what inspired me to build this one years ago. I wonder what ever happened to her 57?
