    It's a Werner T-96 3 speed.
Used in 4 cylinder Jeeps, Willis, Nash, and Rambler's
Produced from WWII up thru early to mid 60's.

They were even used behind Buick/Olds 215 V8s.

I'm a bit rusty here, so dont take what I'm about to say as fact, but if I recall correctly...

    T96 - 1S, 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive
    1R, 4 cyl 4 wheel drive
    1L, 6 cyl and small v8 4 wheel drive [early waggoner and 215 V8]
    1C, 6 cyl and small V8 2 wheel drive

WG - "western Gear", Californiia foundry and plant

DIV 5 - Denotes which production line the case was destin for

18H- The last week of August, 1951 or 1961

    5 - Friday.

It's been 20+ years since I was into that stuff. [I used to be an engineer at GM]

But if I'm not mistaken, you have a Warner 3 speed thaat was made on Friday, the last week of August in 1951 or 61, in the Cal. plant, and was made to be installed in a 4 cylinder jeep or Nash

    Hi,
I searched T96 and found this thread. I was hoping to find something on dropping an old Jeep 3-speed shifter on it. To make it floor shift, currently it's column shift. I bought one awhile back and have been told that it is relatively easy to do. Anyone done it?

Pretty much the same tranny. used in Ford Econoline trucks sixty's and seventy's. Have one in my roadster. Yes just pull out the side shift forks, plug the holes, take off the top plate and drop a Jeep shifter right in.
