Scooter, you suck...but the good news is your updates make me wanna go get something done today...the heater's warming up in the shop, and I got floors to build...man, we need to get our cars together at some point this year, a couple of chopped down 4 doors in completely different styles...Pontiac versus Chrysler...let's do it...

You BETTER!!! HAHA!!! Long time no talk brotha! Send me a PM, let me know how things are goin! :D

I'm going to run a partial hood for road trips and such. So, I think it's going to be weird if I don't cut it down. I agree though... it looks cool the full height. I think when I chop it down I'm going to make an insert that will running vertical bars so It will sort of give the appearance that it's taller than it is. Hoping for the RIGHT optical illusions in that department. :D Don't think I can have my cake and eat it too in that department.

YES! Thanks ABONE! I can't wait until that thing has those damn wheel wells filled in! The patch panels will be coming in soon so I can get started on making the bucks for the sheet metal that is missing! There's A LOT missing.

On that note... I ordered the patch panels from Mike's A-Fordable and got the new cowl panels that are out for the Murray that are supposed to have the correct contours so I can retain the stainless cowl band without modifications.

  10. I have a question about your rear suspension. Seems like a lot of stress on the bolts. See the photo.

NOPE! It's absolutely NOT strong enough. Just haven't finished it. It will get gusseted AND there will be webbing between the plates. The plates will be one piece with the frame when all is said and done. I have a ton of stuff on the frame still on the to do list that is still in the "don't forget to do that or you'll break" list. :D I've been taking my time with that part because it's very obtrusive looking with respect to how the frame itself flows. I want it to actually be attractive and not look like an add on or something when it's done. To me, the frame is just as much a functional piece of art as the rest of the build should be. Even if it's not seen, I know it's there. I'm a freak like that though.

  13. What the fuck is a Murray? I think you made that name up,so you could have something unique,LOL!!!!

Glad I finally got to see what you are working on. Looks pretty cool. Is the back gonna stay like a modified,or are you putting a bobbed bed on it?

HAHA!! Much love to BOB! :D Murray was the company that made that particular Model A body...

No BOBbed bed, I will leave the quick change hangin' out there in the breeze and I'll make a gas tank to fill the void. The tank will make or break the whole deal, so I've been doing a lot of sketching. I think I've got nailed down what I want to do though...

    Skipped out on breakfast, eh??

Your car is looking great, man.... always look forward to the updates!

I've used Rain-X for a few years now on my Galaxie (and other cars in the past) and it has worked great for me. Trust me, I've driven through some VERY heavy rain and can see just as well as cars with working wipers. The trip down to Austin last year was proof enough - damn, it rained a ton! The water beads up and runs off very nicely. It's like putting a coat of wax on your windshield.

Anyways, keep up the kick-ass build!

    Scooter, Rain X defiently works.

I know it probably won't fit in with your build but FWIW I put a Newport Engineering setup in mine (see my avatar). It worked excellent and was a godsend between SLC and Wendover, even with the Rain X. Unfortunately, I don't see a listing for a Murray:(. You might be able to adapt something . Just thought that might be nicer (to use) than one of the epay marine / generic wiper setups.

The biggest thing with mine is that it looks out of place on mine because there isn't an actual visor. No way to hide it. It will probably stick out like a sore thumb. I'm heavily leaning towards just going with Rain-X and plugging up the hole.

Yeah, that would be easier than trying to figure out some kind of quick release setup for one.

I think I'm just going to go with the Rain X and be done with it. I guess I can always add some holes later if I decide to add a wiper assembly.

DUDE! I WISH I was as far along as YOU are!!!:eek: I'm so jealous you're in paint already! You suck!! HAHA! :D

And YES! I agree!! I'm excited to do the floors! I need to get the rust out of the inside tin for the rear floor before I go any further, but I can keep moving with the trans tunnel and stuff. You gave me some serious inspiration and I have some new ideas on what I want to do with this floor! I think it will REALLY start feeling like a car once I'm not looking at a bunch of bars across the floor.

And the important thing to remember is......its just a hobby, everyone has their pace, sometimes mine is fast, sometimes i dont do jack squat, but its all fun.

ive been busting my but on my car to put it in the world of wheels extreme St Paul, i have to drop it off tomorrow...er today? i guess its 5:21 am and i am staying up all night to get it as complete looking as possible even though it wont run.

I always look forward to seeing updates of your car,i really like your cars look, it bad ass! theres just something about it.

Thanks for the kind words Jeff! I appreciate it!

The positive feeback from everyone around here is very motivating! Thanks a ton guys! I'm more excited than ever to work on this thing and plant to do some more work tonight! All your comments, input, help and suggestions have been fantastic and it's the reason I keep posting. Just wish you could see what I see in my mind for this thing. You guys probably look at it different than I do when you see the pictures. The mind is a funny thing... HAHA! I know this is sort of an "outside the box" build and everytime I start making something I think to myself, "this one single piece I'm fabbing could make or break this car..." I don't want this to be a clown car or resemble some kind of theme car. All business and no BS. I feel like I'm on the right track so far... It sorta looks like the original picture I drew anyway. I guess that's good! :D
