Well with Ryans post about the 49 - 52 chevs i got the idea of shaving the taillights.

    heres what i started with
    [IMG]

with that being said i went to the local u pull it and cut a set of quarters off of a 52 chev. hmmm see any similarities i sure do

well after some comparing and staring and some beer i started cutting

then after sandblasting the rusty pits on the chev quarters i decided to make my own piece that fit because the pits were very deep.

well onto the other side after more staring beer and the local stripper magazine i started cutting and tacking

same thing with this side with very bad rust pits so i made my own piece

more grinding and some hammer work then comes the finished product

and my idea i think i am going to run with on the side trim

its off of a 52 packard 4 door

50 chevys had completley different quarters boss!

tailights are going in the bumper guards
gonna be 55 pontiac bumper with 53 caddy guards with a 54 chevy overrider inbetween them for the liscense plate.there is a local glass school and im gonna get them to blow me a set of custom lenses for them also which should be a little different then the usual.

yah i kept the talight housing i know someone out ther needs them.

yah i patched the whole bottom of this car Rusk.
that tailpan was the nicest patch ive ever worked with.

only pain in the ass on those quarters was getting all the lead out first in the factory seams. other then that pretty staright forward job.

next is the chop just waiting for my windshield to get here from california which is hope is soon . then pancaking the trunk and putting a 49 caddy hood on which should be an adventure in itself.

  11. It looks really nice...who made the patch?

Where did the tail pan patch come from? The break lines look nice and crisp, unlike many I've seen.

i also took out the body lines on the front fenders

started out with somethin like this
    [IMG]

didnt like how it ended abruptly in the middle of the fender so away they went

me and my buddy got to thinkin they were pressed in so why not press them back out

we took an angle grinder and started to shave them down a little first you will be surprised how much you can take off of them with out grinding through .

after we took the 4 inch grinder and got to where we thought it need to be we took the cut off wheel and sliced it down the middle

once you start smooting the body line out with the hammer and dolly you will see how much you stretch the metal and it will move closer

we had to keep trimming it down the middle with the cut off wheel

you have to be real careful with doin this and keep an eye on how thin you are stretching the metal or it will be impossible to get a nice weld with out blowing through

You're not gonna fill the hood are you? It would be cool if you kept the streak. The Packard trim is the shit, looks killer.

if your building a chev marty pontiac is 5 inches longer in the front end i think i sold the stainless trim i have a real shitty chrome one though .

also need the other swoopy piece of 52 packard trim because it looked like some ass bag at the u pull it pried it off and left it laying on the ground after he destroyed it.

other then that thanks for lookin
