Who is over 50, and proud of it?

How long have you been involved in cars?

What is your favorite car you've built? (..earlier than '64) :)

I guess I need to answer my own thread!

I'm 59, and still goin' strong. I custom paint for a living (obviously) and get involved in every kind of hot rod project....and more. I won't even discuss ever slowing down!

Been involved since I was 16, when I bought a '53 Chevy. In the first two years I rebuilt the engine myself, painted it myself, and destroyed the first couple transmissions of many! The next couple years a friend and I did our first "frame up build" on a Fiat coupe.

Favorite car was probably my first Vette, a '57, with a loaded 327. It flew! I tried to kill myself in it a few times, before I moved on to many, many other hipo Chevies from the '50 & '60s.

Oldmanolds...I'm from Danville, Illinois. I probably sat next to you at the Nationals! :)

  4. I'm 60, neither proud or not. Dont really think much about it. I've had around 23 rods over the decades, the one I regret selling was a 36 coupe.

Was 52 January 14th. My favorite is my Old Poncho I have now. Will always have a soft spot for those 42-48 BBOPs.

I'm 51, lookk older, feel younger. My favorite HAMB-friendly car is my Nomad, which I've had for 17 years this month, over 250,000 mile since I've owned it. HAMB-type cars I've let get away and shouldn't have include a chopped, channeled, fenderless 30 Model A coupe built when I was a teenager (and all my friends drove Camaros, Mustangs, etc), a Yellow 55 210 2 dr sedan, a 53 F-100 powered by a 350 horse 327, and a couple of 39 Ford coupes, one a deluxe and one a standard. I've been playing with cars my whole life, real ones for 35 years.

I'm 53, bought my first car at 15. It was a 1964 Dodge 330 sedan, 3 on the tree with a 225 leaning tower of power! The cool part was the horn button which had Dodge brother golden anniversary 1914-1964...grouchy

Still have about 10 weeks left before the big 60. Always had neat cars, sunbeam tigers, Porsche, Lexus coupe. I found I really enjoy driving..sold the Lexus, bought a Mazda Miata..last new car ever.

I always wanted a hotrod. I fell real hard for the SO WHAT coupe in September. I bought it...Finally found a bunch of old farts that like the same shit I have liked for years and just didn't know it. Glad to be here !

I am 66 and started messing with cars when I was 14. Of all the cars I have had I enjoy the one I have now the most (54 Chevy hardtop). If I could change anything it would be to have owned it as it is equipped now back in the day. A close second would be the ex-superstocker 60 Chevy I had in my early 20s.

As for being an Old Fart - pull my finger.

64 here...been playing with cars since I was about 14...favorite car is my '40 Stude coop...built it in 1977...it just keeps going...and going...and going.

Owned 30 1957 Chevys at one time and they are my second favorite (I still have one)...but...if you want to read about my crazy hot rod life from 16 years old to about 23, complete with the craziness we did with cars...purchase my books (see below), I'll even autograph them for ya...!!!

  18. Will soon be 60.Proud that I am still more healthy than most my age.Got my first car,1956 Ford in 1964.Had maybe a hundred old cars since then.My favorite would either be the 32 Ford 5 window I foolish let go of 20 years ago after keeping it nearly that long or the 59 Vette I had to sell after a divorce.I won't sell much of anything anymore, just horde them. That deuce would be worth more than my house is now.

it's been in my name since 75.

I'll be 52 in two months and a day. And yep I'm proud of it. Can't change it so why worry about getting older. The first car I owned was a 55 GMC 1/2 pickup. Been around late 40's early 50's cars since I can remember. Dad had a 49 desoto, 51 plymouth wagon, 53 chrysler. I have as yet to "build" a car. But my favorite car I have owned was a 66 mustang that had a blown 6 in it when I bought it in 76. It was a couple of hundred miles from my place. I rebuild a 302, put it in it and drove it home. Loved that car. I am in the process of building 60's era (give or take) 23 T.

Turned 56 last month; not particularly proud of it, but pleased to have made it this far.

My first car (since '67) is the '40 Ford coupe sitting wounded in my driveway; hope to get it running again within the next few months.

My favorite adventure car is the roadster in my avatar. Just something about that fresh air.....

  24. 67 a week from today. My favorite build would have to be the supermodified I built for a friend over the winter of '69-'70 and ended up owning.

Comfortable at 50, my first "project" was a 47 studebaker pickup (wish I'd kept it and all the rest), put in a ford 9 inch and small block, I was only 15 and got lots of advice from the senior at the time.

HMMMM....Lets just say my Soc Sec check helps pay for my play things now. 32 coupe and 29 roadster right now. Car(s) I miss most from years past??? Maybe a black 58 Impala, 57 Olds rag top, Red 40 Standard coupe with a hot flatty. Had a lot of fun with a 47 Crosley. Put many, many miles on a 66 Ford convert. I liked a 60 Austin Healey 3000, but it was hard getting in and out of. My first car was a 46 Ford sedan, I traded my Whizzer motor bike for. Several others along the way.

I'd consider myself an Old Codger, hanging out with other old cronies who still enjoy going fast in the slow lane.

I'm 55 been into Hot Rods & Kustoms as far back as I can remember.

The car I have now my 49 Ford Coupe (even though it's not running @ the moment).

Even more proud of my Hot Rod & Kustom Car related art that I've done since 1st grade.

I wish I'd never sold any of them… LOL

Like it or not, I'm in it for life! Even if it becomes illegal (heaven forbid) to drive them, I'll be doing art about them til' I die!

  30. I'll be 60 in march presently building a 23t altered to run this summer and rebuilding a 47el that I bought as a basket case in 1970
