I JUST got off the phone with the Store Manager at the Old Navy near me, and he knew all about it and informed me that corporate had hired a moving company to take them all away, and that they would not be available for private consumers.

Looks like I'll have to give corporate headquarters a call and offer to save them a few bucks by saving their driver a long haul up north. It might not be too late.

Is it showing about 4-5 inches of rust from the floorboards covered in house paint blue? It seems the ones in my area are just that.

I just got off the phone with the Old Navy store closest to me and the lady said that a moving company was going to come and get theirs and all the others as well. She also confirmed that it was Atlas something another so what grvprt is saying is accurate. I tried calling the Atlas people but they were closed. I don't care what kind of condition these things are in I'll take all they can give me, especially for the price of free.

  9. I think they're not all 1949 models, were not Navy vehicles, and if you're getting them let's see some pictures.

    Thanks,
    Kurt

  11. Shoot, one I looked in was a GMC cab with a Chevy nose and tailgate. Navy my butt, they'd have been sold surplus by the Navy in the 60s. The oldest stuff I can find being sold surplus now is late 60's Kasier-Jeep big trucks and mid-80s GM small trucks, they don't even have any of the '70s era Dodge smaller trucks left that I can find.

They aren't all '49 models and they were all assembled by one company as a prop distributor for old navy, all of the trucks were painted as per Old Navy's advertising requirements. This is nothing new, people have lnown this for years. The trucks are gutted and some have even cut up frames, they are nothing more than worthless display props.

Where did you get your FALSE information?????

I think this FNG is full of BS !!!!

No Old Navy stores around here are getting rid of them or have plans to.

  19. You caught me on that one. They are all make believe Chevy trucks that look exactly like real trucks with the motors removed. Leave your wallet in one of them and see if the worthless props is still there 30 days from now. The make believe fenders, cabs, beds and parts won't fit on anything, everybody has known for years. What dealer sold 800 make believe trucks to Alan Brasington company twenty years ago, Professor?

do you know how many 47 - 54 chevy trucks there are sitting around that can be bought for 500 or less. I bet I could have a dozen by the end of the month if I had the money to put up. So whats the deal with the old navy trucks? Old chevys are easy to find even the 5 window cabs

  23. No problem, I'll get out of here. I thought the information would be helpful, or at least interesting. I assumed guys that had the money, time, and enthusiasm to build up old cars would welcome conversation that pertained to their interests. Obviously anything that upsets the tranquil status-quo is unwelcome, whether it is factual makes no difference. I thought some would take the initiative and make arrangements and get a good, clean, free old truck shell to build into a personal toy. I don't work for Old Navy-I work for Atlas, who is picking them all up-I'm not a girl, but I do sincerely like them-I took two to the crusher because I was ordered to do so-I got on here to sell some instead of taking them to the junkyard and make a little bit of money extra-Put all this in perspective and it becomes obvious why people must be kept in a "need to know" atmosphere. I don't know if the trucks are worth anything, but I do know that trying to hold an intelligent conversation about the subject will cause severe problems. I'm a fan and envy you guys with your very nice toys but agree I am completely out of place here in your board. Apologies to all offended. Thanks

  24. More than you wanted to know about Old Gravy:

    From Wikipedia:
In 1994 [more than 20 years ago ] the Founder of Gap, Inc., and the CEO were visiting Paris, France and came upon a place distinctly named Old Navy and it struck a chord with them. (The Old Navy official site says, "Old Navy was named after a bar in Paris.") A branding consultant two weeks before the trip abroad had presented them with the name 'Elevator'. The concept name was received with mixed reviews. It has been said that the name was chosen because the stores were to imitate the look and feel of a traditional military surplus store. ...

Within the next five years, Old Navy plans to renovate all their US stores. The new Old Navy will have hardwood floors, natural lighting, and a garden inside the store. Old Navy hopes to shed its warehouse-like atmosphere and induce a more comfortable, natural shopping experience.
