O/T mini bike races at the round up

Well here it is. The post you all have been waiting for. This past weekend at the Texas City Ugly Truck HAMB thrash is where it all started while drinking a few cold ones on Richard D. A few of us where standing out in front of my shop talking about a few old mini bike frames I had outside. A few people tried to buy them but I wasnt selling. Instead we came up with an idea of holding a mini bike race this year at the round up. With in minutes all worked had stopped to discuss the idea. So now the idea is spreading like wild fire. We now have riders from all over. From Houston to Texas City. Myself included. As of right now we have 9 possible riders. So here is what we came up with:

1.engine must be 6 h.p. or less lawn mower style . No full blown race motors. We want to keep interesting. No N.O.S.

2. single speed , no gears

3.only one rider per bike. No tag team riders

4. the judges have final say on who wins

5. Everyone rides at there own risk.

6. Goofy outfits encouraged


So far this where we stand. The race is for fun and bragging rights only. Some form of trophy will be fabricated at my shop. The location hasnt been determined yet. I will keep you posted. I would like see a few pics of the bikes you guys may be bringing. So start hitting the garage sales, flea markets , or dig them out of your garage and get them going. I hope to see more people in on this.

 

would a turbo minibike be ok? it's a 46cc that made about 5 hp stock...i'm building it to tool around on the salt this year. actually, why not have one for hambers at speed week too?

As for the turbo bike, you would probably have a slight advantage over the rest of us. We are trying to keep it close to keep it fair .Bring it anyway. I'd like to see it. Maybe you could make an exibition lap .

 

Have the mini shipped to my shop here in houston and I will bring them to austin for you.

Man I hope you guys keep this going long enough for me to get a bike and join in once I get back state side. (2 years) I've already started scrounging around for a bike. Once I get mine built I'll have to be content with just sitting on her and makeing vroom vroom noises

this is a 5hp honda motor from a pressure washer, single sided swing arm that is also the exhaust , jeep rim, chevy spindle, and a G-Force drag radial off of my srt. (I keed, I keed, I aint bringin' it)

 

We now have our first chic in on it. My old lady said she is bringing the trophy back to Houston where it belongs. As for Richard , you better make sure you put a beer holder on yours. It might be hard to ride with that Natural light in one hand. You might want to think about a helmet too. We dont want to make you any more "special" than you already are.

 

Damm now I have to build my sons mini bike.Thanks you guys for giving me more work.If all goes well count us in.Will it be ok if a 17yr old races the bike?

 

Is this drag racing or road course? if on course,dirt or pavement?

yes and no, depending on how you look at it. just throwing it out there. it really doesn't matter, i don't mind taking home a trophy
