As a Power Wagon owner: great topic, wrong forum. Still, there are similarities between a Power Wagon and a hot rod. Brute force, form follows function, no creature comforts whatsoever, etc. The translation, however is entirely different.
I was sort of looking for someone who had used a Power Wagon as the base of a rod.... can a hot rod be "too big"? In that vein.. what's the biggest "traditional-ish" hot rod anyones ever seen? A hotrodded fire engine or something maybe?
The garage across the street from my house has a big old IH wrecker they bought new in the 50s and still operate. I'll see if I can get a pic.
I drove past a lumber yard this weekend that had a great old 40's monster of a truck with a boom on the back. I don't know if it runs, but wouldn't it be great to haul that beast out into the willywags to pull cars? I'll try to get a couple pics and maybe some info on it.
This truck was built by John Foster in Aubrey Tx. a few years back. It has changed hands a few times. Fuel injected GM and a 5 spd. if memory serves me correctly. Awsome craftsmanship, he built the bed himself and most of the boom. Dwight
This monster is sitting next to a state road in northern MN. I assume it was modified for logging. I do like that big metal spear on the front end...it would get people out of your way on the highway.
Here is mine. I cheated, its mounted on an 80 Dodge 4x4 chassis. Its my winter driver, and yes, it does plow the driveway. Gene
Well, an ON topic truck that I have always thought looked mean are tri-5 Chevies. Lifted or lowered they have that badass attitude
I dig those Nash Quads, or Jeffrey's, for that matter. I also like Power Wagons. I have an F3 Marmon Herrington Ford All Wheel Drive that will be restored one day.
My Canadian 1959 GMC 9380 1 ton dually, which I built in 1989/90. Powered by a stroked 409. Otherwise, stock truck, with 4.10 gears replacing the 5.14's. Wheels are original 18", chromed in and out. I desgned and built the car trailer in 1992.
