Scowled at by an old lady! Woo-HOO!!

Okay, so you can all see from my avatar that my '53 Chevy is a pretty inoffensive car to the general public: no flames, no open headers, no flamethrowers, etc. Most people don't even realize it's customized, except that the roof is now gray primer with black scallops and the "stripes" tip them off. I'm pretty harmless looking, too: no tattoos or piercings or green hair. Most strangers give me a "nice car" or "I had one like that once" sort of comment.
But today I was pulling into a parking space at a local strip mall and the elderly woman in the back seat of the car next to me was looking at me with a look of angry disgust, as if I were scum and my car was an affront to civilized society. It gave me a nice warm feeling deep down inside. That's fun! I wish I'd had remote exhaust cutouts!!

You may have reminded her of a really bad experience that she had in a 53' Chevy earlier in her life. Sounds like you were at the wrong place at the wrong time.

sounds like your car represents a nemesis from another age, one when she had more power for dealing with "your kind". Awesome.

 

And after living 75 or 80 years, most people have an expression of disgust mostly due to decades of gravity and the fact they know they'll be dead soon.

An old lady was scowling at my truck once after parking her Cadillac about 8" away in an otherwise uncrowded parking lot.

I walk up all pissy, and she asks me if it's a '56.
She tells me about the 56 they had on the farm and when her husband died, no one wanted the truck and shel;s never seen one as nice as mine.
She was really cool and loved the truck despite her needing a face lift.

For all you know, the poor old lady just pooped herself.

 

A few years back I had a bright yellow F100 ,and I got the opposite reaction from older women ( at my age ,no such thing as OLD women) after i painted flames on it for something to do one quiet afternoon ...as you do .
I even had one give me directions as I was backing into a parking place,another got out her car at the lights and stepped up to the window to say how much she liked it......the truck I think she meant ...and quite a few flirty winks etc from the blue rinse set.
so maybe you need to dye the hair green...

Damn it man, that was just wrong But I tend to like to piss off people on purpose sometimes , tunnel ram through the hood, lumpy cam and fairly loud exhaust, flat black ya know, the works. Makes me feel like I accomplished my goal

 

Hopefully ill be seeing some of those " looks of disgust " soon in my 53 . Mine has more rust than yours so the looks should be even better !!!

 

Never know. I was waiting at a signal in my 31' Coupe. A Cadillac Escalade pulls up next to me. The window rolls down and this lady saids she really likes my car. I tell her thanks.

 

Some old people are cranky MoFos or just straight up rude.

We had an old women stop and abuse us the other day when we were parked in an out of the way place in a large park. I let it go, but was pissed off at how rude she had been as was my girl. Well as it so happens the old girl cant help herself and comes back 15 mins later, this time gets off bike and starts saying my plate number in an attempt to rememeber it, we were I assure you doing nothing wrong but parked and chatting, my girl leans out the window and politely asks if she wants a pen and paper 2 write it down The women kept going on and on so sadly I had no choice but to tell her to f#ck off. Normally I would be pissed if I heard someone say that to a grandma, but why should the old be protected when they are being obnoxious, but boy it made me feel good

On the flip side like a lot of you MANY old folks love my car. Even if it is flat black with red steelies

 

You Goddamn kids and your loud cars, get off my Goddamn lawn!!!

 

I stoped in a fuel station in my 33 Ply. and a older lady said they did not sound like that when they was new with a smile on her face, then said it looked nice.

What was she doing just sitting in the back of the car alone, maybe she was pissed that her family went in to shop and left her out in the car, kinda like the grandpa on the Simpsons.

 

Welcome to my world I'm a biker from the early 70's and no matter where you were you were looked down on it was great but now everyone rides so I went back to old school rat rods and love to go to shows and park next to those expensive store boughts and get that look again. Got to love it!
