You said you "settled" on the nose design. I call bullshit. It's is fabulous. You didn't "settle" on jack shit. Fantastic work. I love it.

On of the many best things about this build is that Zach is doing it all in a space smaller than most soccer mom's need to park their mini-vans... using tools he makes himself... he isn't out there with a full snap-on tool chest... he's out there using out dated (to some) tools and hand made gadgets that he creates as he needs them... It isn't the tools that create great things, it's the artist's hand and Zach's hands are about as strait and true as they come... A famous Renissance sculptor used to say that he didn't create or carve the statue...he merely released the figure that was already inside the barren block of stone... Zach is releasing something similar from flat, blank sheets of metal... he didn't form that nose from a buck, he released it from a flat sheet of aluminum, it was always there but it took Zach's eye to see what was there, what could be... and he does this all on nights, weekends, inbetween his othe job, girlfriend, family and car-shows... haha... I know I'm embarrasing the guy, but hey, I'm in awe at his humble tallent... enough, it's just a car right?

Wow, thanks an awful lot everyone.
Glad your not all as much of cridicts as i am :)

Road Apple...I really did settle on this design, I had a whole bunch of different ideas, it sort of just fell into this one the most so I went with it. I know that sounds like a cop out reply, but its more or less true. And it leaves me with a list of ideas for the next car too!

Rustybucket....I'm anxious to get a grill in there also. I was working on one for a while but i dont really like how it was looking, you can actually see part of it stuck into the nose opening on the one right front shot. It was 1/2x1/2 aluminum angle and I just thought it looked too wimpy. So I'll try something different.

Myke....shooting for a driver by May. Sure is ALOT to do still but its getting closer

Django....No moving for me, I dont think I'll have much chance of finding any 36's out there. PA is still open territory and I'm on the hunt!

50fraud....the lights will go towards the outside edges of the nose buldges, but still infront kinda, on a bracket coming out through a hole in the front of the buldge. I'm not looking to mount them soon, or any "extra" parts like that. gotta get it solid and running first.
I'm just going to use the most simple headlights i can find.

Cshabang...this was a last minute update since i was bored at work and then at home waiting for the garage to warm up afterwards.

scarylarry and 39sledge...i dont really have any progress pictures
heres one trying to figure out the shape of the center section.
you can kinda see how i made the parts and then kept trimming them down till i liked them
i made the sides each in their own seperate pieces trimed the center section to match them and then welded it all together
    [IMG]
it all just tuck shrinking pretty much to get the shape into the pieces

here you can see all the welds pretty clearly to see the parts
    [IMG]

i think the hardest part was setting on where to put the thing in relationship to the frontend, i kept moving it front and back untill i finally welded the sides on and thats where it'll stay

    thanks
    Zach

Well done on all the stylising of the nose, Zach. A real work of art.

Its funny but I couldn't help but to reflect on the Steam driven pumping station/museum I visited the other day, when I saw this update.

They are both a fine example of mechanical art, beautiful to look at, watch perform, and display man's inventiveness, whilst creating a form of masculine art.

    Fantastic

I second that. After looking at those wooden hammers, I'm floored and extremely impressed.

    You got that right!

  22. Looks really good. Are you going to keep the buldges flat or add a little more curve to them?

I am saving pictures for inspiration when I start my 27 T track car.

After I get moved to PA I may want to road trip over and visit.

Inspiring work...just shows what an eye for design and a little will-power can do. Great video; loved the filters and old-film scratches, and music....who was that? Bob Wills?

    Wow. Such talent.

  28. Dig it Zach, looks great!

I like the buldges semi flat on the sides...its different, which is good. By chance, did you get any inspiration from an old Popular Mechanics cover? I'm not home and can't drop the cover art on you....but it reminds me of it. And I love the art deco cover... Great work!
