That Vette was designed by and built for (Not sure if it was by him) Tom Daniels, the most prolific model designer of the 60's and 70's. I agree its ugly but its by an early version of Foose.

Easy now! That's the famous "Halloween Merc". Back off man....

How you been,Hotroddaddy? Haven't heard from you for a while

Ive been good bob, been working on the new ride some, cleaning up the frame trying to get her back together. Most of you will be happy to know, the merc has a new home. Maybe if your lucky the new owner will think like you guys, and change it, but wait till you see what i do with the new 53 ford panel truck, hahaha!

  6. A masterpiece like this looks deceptively easy. You would say "Anyone can do that!" but you would be wrong, oh, so wrong.
Adding to it's pedigree as a work of genius is that it looks familiar and yet alien at the same time. Is it an airport tug crossed with a '70s Tripper Van? Maybe a University Plant Service Suzuki cross-pollinated with a Meyer's Manx?
    It's hurts to ponder this.

  7. what up hotroddaddy long time no see dude.. i always liked the skull merc maybe you should post some pics of what you started with..

  8. Great! Can't wait to see how it evolves. Make sure to post pic's(not on this thread...of course,LOL!!!)

Why is the Corvette Summer car right hand drive? I never noticed that before (well maybe I did when I was 7 years old). I take it by the recent looking picture that it still exists and has a proud owner somewhere.

PS: I knew it was David Carradine in Death Race 2000! A fine cinematic actor if there ever was one.

  10. Could you imagine driving around in the mask that David Carradine wore in Deathrace 2000?

Kirk, you win for best photos in this thread.

I love the crappy 'artwork' painted on the cars.

And you're right, wizards ARE always cool!

Something is funky with either the photo of the Corvette Summer car or the video. Check the hood scoop inlet things. In the video the ones on the right side face up, in the photo they face up on the left. Plus the exhaust on the one in the video comes out of the fender, the one in the photo doesn't.

Actually the one pictured previously must be a clone. Here's a still from the movie. The hood scoop is totally different.

    From the movie.

In the movie he said he wanted it to be right hand drive. Who knows the actual reason.

    Found this:
The Corvette was a 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray converted to right hand drive so that Mark Hamill could hang out of the curbside window looking at the ladies. Mark Hamill was badly injured in an automobile wreck in Malibu, California prior to production.

Mid-America Motorworks now owns it along with the vette in DeathRace 2000.

The first time I seen a pic of it, I hated it. I've grown to like it though and can appreciate the work that was put into it. There have been a lot of clones done of that car.

Sorry to say but there is a 'Corvette Summer' sub culture and quite a few replicas out there.
    Mercmad,
What warehouse? Lets burn it down before the beast can escape and pollute out perfect ugly custom-less roads..............
