    Take a photo like this...

    and turn it into this.

It's a free online program that turns image files into vector art. You can even edit it and adjust the look. I used the low detail setting, and used the zap tool to delete some of the background pieces.

I grabbed the Hirohata Merc photo from Tbomb428 NHRA Museum thread. Hope you don't mind! If you do, I can delete the post.

    Anyways... here's the link.

I've been using it to turn ****py jpegs of logos into EPS files at work. It does a pretty good job of that too.

You can do it in Illustrator CS2 also if you already have it.

Ya, I use that too... this is cool for people who don't have any graphics programs though, and it seems to work really good.

    Thanks Mike,
I can use that for real work (duplicating customer's logos, they never seem to have the original artwork), but here's my test piece.
A shot I took of madcad's 622 on the flats.

    I suppose paint-by-numbers isn't art either:D.

It's great for logos... I've used it about five times already when the customer supplies me with a 100x100 pixel logo, and wants t-shirts or a banner made.

Plus I don't have to buy Illustrator to do it (I work mostly on Linux with GIMP and Inkscape)! :)

I'm kinda up in the air about it. Who could call themslf an artist when you just feed an image in one end and take the 'art' out the other end? I mean I work my hands off to call myself a half an artist!

And paint be numbers at least your picking up a brush!

I will admit it does make for some decent looking PHOTO edits, but I wouldnt refer to it as someone making art. Especially when the photo wasnt even taken by the person.

JUST MY OPINION! Aint worth much right now but thats it.

  13. I agree, I have Photoshop CS and Illustrator CS, that can do all that stuff, but it takes alot more than a "program" to make you an artist, but then again people have called themselves fabricators, just because they own a $200 welder.

  14. and an artist doesn not make you a filter :D

Depends on if he polished by hand or with a rock polisher!

And now we're just getting off the given topic.

I think the ***le says "wanna-be" artist. As in, not really an artist, just "want to"
I want to be a billionaire, doesn't actually make me one :D

I agree it doesn't make you an artist... far from it. It's a silly little program that edits photos.

Then again there are alot of very famous artists that I don't understand the reason for them being famous.

I just thought some might appreciate this to mess around with. I'm not a big fan of computer generated art to begin with.

Philters R Phun! I'm having too much fun with this! I have played with filters in Photoshop many times, but this is quick and easy! Now, if I just had the time to paint them...;)
