Well this is my first real chop. I dont think chopping a Model A counts. Still this wasnt to difficult after a lot of staring and not blowing straight into it. but pictures definatly make it look much easier. sorta modeling it after ponchos chop and not going for the whole "rockasilly" look . here is what we started with about 2 hours of staring and drawing on the car now onto some cutting
Yep, you only lose an eyeball once. Well each eye anyway. I wouldn't mind chopping my 41 a few inches either, but I don't know how good a torpedoback would look chopped though.
where we were at after everything was cut apart worst part was all the bracing behind the quarter window and finding the 75 spot welds to drill out we cut the rear window completley out inbetween the beltline and window channel. .i dont like the look of the area between the trunnk lid and window to be elongated so we came up with this and it turned out perfect. also the coupe roof is very short to begin with wanted to keep it as long looking as possible . another reason we didnt move the back window forward with glass and stainless to get an idea. the stainless still is going to fit well it doesnt look like it in the pic but its not bolted down. and the stainless will hid the cut line between the beltline trim and the channel
im thinkng of doing the same ole thing to my 51 buick. only that ill be swaping the stock rear glass for some thing more like an early ford or chevy.
safety glasses = $5 glass eye = well, I dunno but you get the point looking good man, keep it up! keep us updated!
next gettin that rear window in place fillin in some gaps i was kinda obsessed with making the break match the original for some reason noone is ever gonna see it but i did it anyway also made the bead rools in the origional run into the pieces i put it
Lookin sweet flop. Hey, are you working on that in your guys' Millvale garage? I'd love to come out some weekend and check it out in person. Lookin good man. Give brian a pinch on his boobies for me -ace
yah thats at the one in millvale not the big garage the little one at the bottom of the lot pie cuts pie cuts pie cuts filling in the blanks
your good pals at harbor freight. only thing i ever bought there. 5 bux for 8 and how could they screw those up . everywhere else they are about 5 bux apiece
heres the proverbial money shot. i cant get the car outside. to much shit to move its needs a carb etc etc. next will be the windows and starting the many many many feet of welding
Nice job Flop,,,good to see some restraint with the sawzall, especially on a coupe. Did you decide to keep the B pillars? Bryan
Shit, i forgot about the "little" garage and that you guys had that one too. Looks great so far. you've got me inspired to chop the lincoln. little tricky with the addition of an extra door...but what the hell. lookin' good bro -ace
Thanks a bunch, well documented! [right click, save as] I'll need those pics for reference very soon. I want to cut my rear window out and fix it. Mine was placed in up-side-down and I don't really like it. BTW how much did you chop out? looks about 4"?
