Howdy. A really neat little '51 Studebaker truck is headed my way. The stock motor has been rebuilt, along with the trans. and the truck is great around town but not too highway friendly. Anyone know of someone who has adapted a T5 to a Stude 6 and what was involved? Any other good O/D options? A comfortable 70 mph is the goal. Thanks!
I talked to a vendor at the York Stude meet that made an adapter for the T-5 OD trany to the 6 cyl. You can probably find him through the Studebaker drivers club. Try asking on one of the Studebaker message boards.
Check this out: http://www.studebakerdriversclub.com/sdc_forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13212&SearchTerms=5,speed,adapter Don't remember if the 6 bangers were discussed in this particular thread but plenty of good info here and I do remember the subject being discussed at SDC.
I know a guy locally who's got a t5 behind the stock 6 in his shovelnose stude. He actually is the art teacher at the school I used to work at. PM me if you want his email address.
