History Drag cars in motion.......picture thread.

  1. Notice the front wheels on ramps too! The rear wheels probably are off the ground too,for a "cackle" photo shoot. The track is the new Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia.(Div.6)

  2. That would be Doug Herbert's spectacular fueler explosion from a few years ago! Notice some of the parts in the outer area of the photo?

I've been looking and looking for my photo collection to add to this great thread, but can only say they are lost probably when I left my ex... Anyhow, these are from our attempts to go racing in U.S. We tried quite a few times, starting in -96 with an Olds Cutlass, then bought a new Camaro in 2000 (sunset picture from the first go at Las vegas). In 2003 we got a new Pontiac and tried again, but never qualified. Pro stock in NHRA are a bitch to conquer. But the memories are still alive, just miss my pictures.

  4. Well i don't know where this post went,so i'll post again. These are pics of the late Bill"Mad Man"Phillips, a very ingenious Canadian Racer, whose revolutionary ideas, are still being developed. Imagine how much power a Hemi could make, without all that cumbersome valvetrain. The rotary valve setup is still secretly generating interest.;)

Found this great nostalgic site race68.com with photos from mainly the early swedish scene. D R grew fast in Sweden and getting Linda Vaughn here was amazing. The FED was the first purposebuilt rail in sweden called subsonic. The Brooklyn Heavy (my alltime favorite) was imported to England by whiskey brand owner Bell, and later sold to Sweden, now under restoration. The Volvo funny car was an utterly cool car with some success. The car racing the Canon mustang is extremly cool but I don't know anything about it. Oh, I even got to crew on the Brooklyn Heavy once. I was litterally in Heaven.

Hey guys! My name is Mike and I've been lurking around for a few weeks checking out all the cool old drag pics. This is my first post and I wanted to contribute some pictures I've collected thru the years. I'm more of a door-slammer guy but I do like Top Fuel & Funny Cars so I'll be mixing my photos of both.
Hope you enjoy my first batch of pics.
