I want to send my 6 97's to a reputable, well known shop to have them rebuilt. Actually I'd like to find some place that could chrome em and build em. I've searched on the forum but can't find any pertinent info. Any advice?

Well two guys that I would use and not in any order, Josh at stromberg 97 and Matt at Fox Valley hotrods . Both were taught by the Very Best and carry on the tradition. Uncle max I hear is good but never used him or the folks around our area ???

Well............Uncle Max does excellent work as he did some work for me at a very reasonable price...........................on you have one of the alltime 97 experts who has sold more 97's world wide than Carter has Pills..............right here on the H.A.M.B..................
Strombergs97 in Sacramento...............and his work is totally beautiful

About chroming carbs....................after the chroming there is a lot of work......equate that to $$$ because you have to lap all the surfaces again and ream holes.................as we always said when we were drag racing....................."If it don't go, then Chrome it".
Talk to some of the builders and get their opinion and price first..................chromed carbs are a total pain unless you never intend to start the motor and run gas through them.

    IMHO

P.S. Thanks for the kind words John.

I'd recommend stromberg97 on here too. A friend of mine had some done by him, amazing work. I just do my own stuff. And then I rebuild and sell John Deere carbs and mags, and a few Harley mags.

Reputable; yes. Well known; maybe. Chrome; uh-uh. Possibly North America's smallest Stromberg shop. If I need help, I use my other hand. 212 last year, no returns.
